Can we win a Super Bowl with Alex Smith?

Not in 2015, necessarily. Just a general question, really.

I know there is a definite line drawn in the sand on this subject here and I want to know if there is a general consensus one way or the other. I'm kinda on the fence about it...but I'm leaning towards no.

If we get the OL to block as a top ten unit. The receivers grow into a top ten unit and the backs and tight ends are also top ten...paired with the defense being similar to last year (maybe a hair better) is Alex Smith a guy that can help the team win it all?

Of course, this would mean we would get a break here and there in the postseason.

He made the NFC champ game and was 2 punt return fumbles away from the Super Bowl. He didn't have a great game, but he was still in position to go to the Super Bowl and his play against NO that year was great.

Our defense should be as good as that defense was
Our receivers and TEs should be better than SFs
The OL won't be as good
The running game should be better

Team talent has so much to do with it, as well as luck.

Tom Brady was a game manager in his first SB win. And he got lucky as well (ask Oakland).
Big Ben was a game manager in his first SB win. And he got lucky (ask Seattle about how they felt about a certain call).
Eli Manning was a game manager in his first SB win. Think he got lucky? (ask David Tyree).

Most of this shit is luck. I mean hell look at the last SB. Brady got lucky that Carroll made a stupid call and a rookie undrafted DB from ****ity ****ville, ****town made a pick on the last play to win him the game.

I mean come the **** on. Look at how much luck is involved with this shit. Watch the Seattle/GB NFCCG again if you don't believe me.

Having the most talented team will most definitely get you to the SB in most cases (and no I thought the NYG were a more talented overall team than SF in the NFCCG) but even then nothing is guaranteed.

We aren't there yet, but I think we are close to being the team Andy and John envisioned.

We've seen that song and dance.
Flacco wasn't beaten up like Smith was in san fran

Smith had the confidence kicked out of him by shitty 49er coaches

Smith saved his career by stop turning the ball over. That confidence has to be rebuilt.

can't it ever be rebuilt?

Surrounded with enough talent, YES we can. He's not going to take mediocre players and light it up. However, an elite defense, a strong running game, and incredible pass protection will be enough to take this team to the big show.

Smith will never win a Superbowl. Not here not ever. Neither will fat Andy. To stupid with the play calling to be considered a legit threat at winning a Superbowl.
