Andy Reid wants Alex Smith, if they had let him hit the free agency market, he wouldnt be here. Now, I know a lot of you hate Alex Smith, but this is the guy Andy Reid wants. And honestly, even I dont know why.

Rotoworld is where I pasted that from. It shows that his salary from 2012 was guaranteed, but not 2013.

Does the roster bonus make his salary guaranteed?

Alex Smith counts 8.5m vs the cap in 2013 and 9m in 2014. I think he gets a new deal tomorrow.

his 2012 and 2013 salaries are fully guaranteed after a certain date for that specific league year

his 2014 is the one that is not fully guaranteed. He's getting a full ~8 million before he even puts on a pair of Chiefs shorts and throws a pass in summer warm ups.

the problem with this is the guy is injury prone, probably the most injury prone starting NFL QB by a landslide, so giving him full money before the season is like a moltov cocktail. He could get hurt our season will be over before it's even started and the dude will be on the hook for a contract they cant even cut or eat.

Where does the other 1.5 million come from next year?..rotoworld shows him at 7.5.

you cant have both of these bozos on the hook for all this money. Get Cassel off the books and spend it on some FAs that can help the team

he would of gotten a 1 million bonus if he was still on the 49ers roster. not sure if that applies to the chiefs or not, but i know that was the urgency to trade him prior to the 14th
