I was really surprised to see that much emotion from the big guy. That's the first time in I've ever seen him interract with the crowd. He can play so well at times and so poor at others...\

Chet has looked good for about 4 weeks now. Hopefully, he is now worth something to this team as well as it's fans.

I mentioned this in my thread with 0 replies. He doesn't look like the half-asser everyone makes him out to be. He was pumping up the croud and making plays. These last few weeks he's been as good as anyone. Hopefully he keeps it up.

The problem is that he doesn't play like this in every game.
He's had maybe four good games all year long. He's just not a dependable player. You never know which Chester is going to show up. [This message has been edited by Cannibal (edited 12-17-2000).] |

I think having Hicks back out there and Gun taking over the D is having some good effects on this D.

Chester is just a product of a bad reputation. I think he's played a lot better than people give him credit for, and when he's not sacking people every play it is construed as not playing hard. Regardless, he'll most likely be back next year, I've heard the cap hit in releasing him would be too much to take...

I think we should keep McGlockton because I've always thought he did a nice job of stuffing the middle. I admit lately he's finishing his tackles much better than at the beginning of the year. His offsides still haunt me but I guess I'll put up with it.
The guy who kills me is Dan Williams. There's got to be a better/cheaper player that can play inside. Would Hicks, Glock, Browning, Browing be a better front four or should we draft a stud in the first couple of rounds? AZ |

I totally agree with the Hicks influence. I posted this about five weeks ago, and then wondered allowed if Hicks absence hurt not only Chet, but the entire D line. Although injuries are a part of the game, if Hicks and Grbac hadn't been injured, we would probably be making a push for the playoffs!!! (We just defeated a team that NEEDED a win)

I think we should look at drafting Mario Fatafehi the DTackle out of KState. He will be an impact player in the NFL and can be had in the second round.
Very good value. |

For whatever its worth, on the Fox pregame, Chet, and Wesley, made Howies Tough Guys team. If Teischer is correct it cost 7 mil to cut him and 4.2 to cut Williams. I think both will be back, but if one goes, I hope it is Williams. I agree with the draft selection though, especially in the second round.

Has anyone else noticed that Chet's revival in the last two games has coincided with the absence of Williams and the insertion of Browning?
Chet can be such a dominating tackle. I wonder if he felt he had to 'cover' for Williams and it dragged down his play. |

I'd like to see Chet and D.Williams both gone next year. We beat the Rams without Chet. With his continued offsides, he's cost us some very valuable yardage at very crucial times. If the Chiefs wanted to use their first two draft picks on defensive tackles I wouldn't complain.
I can also remember his recommendation to Anders when Anders was complaining about lack of playing time. He told him to just "laugh it off, that's what I do". Some Raider fans tried to tell us he was a cancer (similar to shaw). I now believe them on both counts. |
