he doesn't play that fast though

I didn't expect the depth to be fixed by the beginning of last year so I was never really pissed at Mauga's mistakes. He is what you get when a team has no depth and loses a guy like DJ. I would be fine with him on the team for backup-money. Even back-loaded, that is quite the deal for a guy that we could replace easily enough. The only time I lost it was when he completely shit the bed on his gap coverage during the huge TD run in Oakland that sealed the Chiefs fate for the season.

Well, I'm probably a minority of 1, but I don't think this is a bad signing. I believe the guy started pretty much every game for us, and did a good enough job that the defense was pretty darned good. I know he had a ton of missed tackles, but gents, this is a team game and with him at one ILB position, his team had a rather stout defense.

So, there's at least one person on this board that isn't horrified with this signing.

It's official.

Dorsey can't ****ing negotiate. He's an awful GM.

He needs to hire a co-GM who can do negotiations similar to how Denny Thum or whoever it was for Carl.

There is absolutely ZERO reason why Josh ****ing Mauga, a guy who has NEVER been able to stay healthy before his one year in KC, and who is nothing more than glorified special teams depth, should be receiving THAT MUCH ****ing money.

I've seen enough awful and stupid contracts out of Dorsey that now it's time to face the facts. He can't get people signed for what they should, he can't bargain with other teams, and when he does, unless the agent/player is nice, he's going to get fleeced.

Money aside, what the **** was the rush?

You're scrambling to clear cap space and you're signing the Mayor of Scrubville?

Does anyone think teams were going to be lighting up Mauga's phone on Tuesday?

Apparently he had a full slate. Dorsey was scared to death of losing this guy.

SNR, buddy, easy does it. Do you really think all of these signings and departures are just random one-at-a-time deals? Good heavens, give the front office some credit for at least a modicum of planning/strategizing on this stuff. They've known their players, contracts, cap room, etc for a long time, and I'd imagine that this was all pretty much planned.

Obviously, you don't agree with this particular signing, but why let this relatively minor deal put you over the top as per deciding that Dorsey is a crappy GM?

Pioli had pretty much ruined this franchise and this current regime has had to pretty much pick up the pieces and attempt to construct a competitive team. They've now been at it, what, 2+ years? Gotta give 'em more time than that, don't you???

If I may - it's because Dorsy has shown a pattern of overpaying for average talent.
