I think its time for the Cassel doubters to eat their crow

The kid deserves some respect.

After todays game Im starting to believe in the guy as our quarterback. He just displayed a true testament of toughness out there and leadership.

To some people I understand its about him leading us to the playoffs and winning the superbowl in order for them to be satisfied...yada yada yada

Im not going to go by that mindset at all. I look at this game and I see the way he played and it tells me a lot about his character. We should be proud. We got a pretty good quarterback folks. That 2nd round pick we gave up was well worth it.

I think composure, toughness, and leadership are key attributes for a quarterback. Cassel has those qualities and I also love the fact that he plays with passion too.

However, I believe the number one attribute as a quarterback is the ability to respond under pressure. So now I don't want to jump the gun here and say he has that capability, but I will say, after coming back from an appendectomy and performing the way he did, is a great sign and a step in the direction towards performing well under pressure. So far so good Matt. Keep up the good work you sure as heck got my support.

It's a longshot.

But I've said it 1000 times before, the Bengals are at their worst when they open up the passing attack. Palmer can't do it behind that offensive line. It's the reason I thought they were stupid to bring in T.O. And let's not forget that the Chargers got gashed by the Raiders in the running game several weeks ago.

You're right, in the elements, the Bengals have a very good chance of establishing Benson and letting Carson run as a game manager. There's a lot in this game that makes it ripe for upset.

This was the best I've seen him use a shitty pocket. The best I've seen him take advantage of a defense even when the running game was average. The best I've seen him deal with adversity--rather than pout and throw his hands up in the air. His stats should have been better, but what is most important is how he dealt with the adversity of his entire supporting offensive cast playing below average.
I'm with you 100% here.

It's painfully obvious that Brodie Croyle has no place on this football team. The Chiefs would have probably lost against San Diego last week with Cassel, but that was an entirely different looking football team than the one we saw today.

This team clearly respects Cassel and they play at a higher level when he's under center.
Good post.

Kind of funny everyone wants to crown Cassel after yet ANOTHER 200-yard rushing game and near dominant performance from the defense.

He played well today but there wasn't a lot of heavy lifting.

Because I don't think this is accurate, at least in terms of on-field performance.

The Denver game was a watershed moment, IMO.

There's those damn stats again.

The ground game wasn't all that effective to start the game, and 80 of those yards came on one run late in the game.

My crow is on the grill, but won't be served as of yet.

He has done well, but a majority of it was against the NFCW, you know, the division that doesn't have a single team with a winning record. Plus, it was just 6 weeks or so ago that he was a complete abortion.

He is miles above what it looked like his potential should be. I thought the mother****er was Herm-style hopeless. He at least has shown that there is hope for him to be a ****ing stud. Before there wasn't even a glimmer. That is HUGE. Particularly in the Not For Long League.

His stats are good and are definitely helping the team win. Remember though, Hutard had a pimping QB rating north of 100 second only to Manning in 2005.

I've been burned enough times to still be skeptical. But have to acknowledge that he is much improved an really looks like the real deal.

Perhaps I'll have an appetizer of crow and hold off on the main course.

I'll say this much for him, his pocket presence is light years, and I mean light years, ahead of where it was week 1. I don't know how you improve that. But his confidence, pocket presence, and accuracy is so much better than even a couple months ago. Plus he actually seems to be in control of the offense and is making calls at the line. And today he was doing it while hurting. Pretty good stuff.

And if Charles had busted one for 80 against the Texans, we'd have won that game, too.

Which has nothing to do with this game and the way Cassel performed early when the running game was ineffective.

All I'm saying is Cassel didn't have to make a single play in the 4th quarter today.

He played well, but crowning him is premature.

In fact, if memory serves correctly, Cassel was our leading rusher at halftime.

Well yeah. Most teams that have 2 score leads in the 4th quarter generally ride their RB's. It's a pretty sound strategy.
