What did you have for dinner?

I thought I would redo an old classic. What are you having or did you have for dinner?

Yum.

After being in Mexico for two weeks I was kind of sick of food. I had Girl Scout cookies and Tequilla.

Steak, fries salad!

Seen it on Triple D's. Diners, Drive-in's and Dives.

Grilled a sirlion, cut it up over top my lettuce, hard boiled egg, cherry tomatoes. Then topped that off with crinkled seasoned fries with Western dressing. With grilled onions on the side.

Beverage of choice was A&W rootbeer in a nice frosty mug.

Very tasty.

I'm making Mongolian Beef with Jasmine Rice tonight, and Hungarian Goulash with Egg Noodles tomorrow.

I've made the Mongolian Beef many times, but never the Goulash.

I had some spinach and bacon sitting around, and a nice bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc sitting in the wine cooler, so I thought I'd do an interpretation of Oysters Rockefeller last night.

Grilled mahi-mahi fish tacos with a creamy chipotle sauce on corn tortillas.

Damn, I do love me some good fish tacos.

And they went great with a bottle of Dellatorri pinot grigio.

When I was growing up, we had fried chicken at least every other Sunday. Now we only have it a few times a year, but luckily my wife learned to make it from my mom. So I've been eating the same delicious fried chicken my whole life.

My mom does great fried chicken but it's a pain in the ass so it doesn't happen very often. Mine isn't as good as her's but it's passable when I feel like going to the trouble. I don't see anyone on the horizon who will pick up the chicken frying torch when me and mom are gone.

Lately, my daughter has been taking up the family interest in cooking (all my brothers like to cook -- one is a chef) and learned how to make fried chicken and gravy today. So it is likely that style of fried chicken will go on at least another generation in our family. Kind of cool.
