I am a mod at the 2k forums now, so i can get good infos now. Also have direct contact with the head PR guy. its a pretty nice gig. lol

Prizefighter's career mode sounds godawful. It's one standard story and if you lose, it's game over and you have to do the fight you lost over to advance. Way to mimic games from over a decade ago, guys. An open-ended career mode would have just added TOO MUCH replay value, I suppose.

EA Receives Second FTC Inquiry

Electronic Arts said Thursday that the Federal Trade Commission has for the second time requested information pertaining to the company's bid to buy competitor Take-Two.
ImageEA is currently in the middle of a hostile bid to buy Take-Two for around $2 billion, but the FTC is looking more closely to see if the merger would block competition in the industry.

EA said in a press statement that it believes the proposed transaction "would not be anti-competitive."

At this time, the FTC has made no conclusion regarding the bid.

It's possible that the FTC may be looking into issues regarding the sports game market. If EA does acquire Take-Two and its subsidiary 2K Sports, the already-huge EA Sports will have eliminated its main competition.

Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter wrote in a recent investor note, "Currently [EA and Take-Two] compete in pro basketball, college basketball and hockey. So by taking out all of that, EA has a monopoly in sports.

"If these guys have a monopoly, they're not going to cut pricing on sports games as quickly. We've been seeing sports games come down [in price] before Christmas the last couple of years. That'll never happen again."


This has to be some kind of good news. I dont know if this needed its own thread, but this is the most popular gaming thread, so hell.

I hate EA just have it up there cause Madden is about all I play.

I think the game is glitchy garbage, but it's the only way I can take out my Chiefs frustration on the world.

Is it still just one general story, though? Because that's still really shitty.

I want to be excited, but if there's no openness in the career mode it's just all for nothing.

Going to get more of that soon. One the other mods on the 2k forums is going to have a Q/A session with the lead developer of PF. Should be next week.


Also, what do you mean by openess? I know FN is pretty straight forward as well. You get to pick from what 3 guys then fight them guys and move up? I honestly dont know much about PF other then the videos that came out. I know alot more information will be coming next week.

Pretty much, yeah. If the story mode is just "you fight this guy, this guy, this guy, then this guy, hey you're the champion," without any choice or chance for variation, I'll only be able to justify renting the game.

I am thinking that the cutscenes may be pretty much the same, but as far as what opponents, i am sure you will have a choice. Also, i dont think everything is going to be exactly the same as you can box and party like a rockstar and have your career go that way.

I guess we will all find out soon.
