My Take: Best game by the Chiefs so far this season

NOTE: This analysis excludes the garbage 77yd TD with 2min and change left in the 4th.

Best, most complete game of the year for our Chiefs. Great execution. We completely dominated TOP having the ball for more than 40 mins. It was also a game that we truly WON, not only benefiting off of the other team's mistakes and turnovers, a la NYJ and WAS games.

- Pass D: MUCH improved!! Only gave up 202 pass yards including the garbage time 77yd TD. Surtain blanketed Chambers all night long and none of the WRs or their stellar TE McMichael did any real damage.

- Run D: Gave up the one big play, but still kept them under 100 yards rushing.

- Offense: scored 6 or more points in every quarter. Most consistent performance of the year.

- Run game: great job! Both Priest and LJ got around the same number of touches, about the same yards, both scored. Both ran well. Line looked good, especially the left side with big Willie. Priest finished 18carries for 90yds and LJ had 23car for 93yds

- Pass game: Best it's looked all year. Got everyone involved. Dante, Eddie, Chris Horn, and Bo all had receptions. Tony G had his breakout game thusfar this season, leading all receivers with 7 catches for 67 yards.

- Special teams: Tynes kicked the hell out of the ball and was accurate. Excellent job!! Dustin boomed the ball when he needed to and kept it out of the end zone as well. Can still improve on his kicks, but not bad. Also kick return coverage still needs to improve.

We get the win, we look good, and now we get 2 extra days of rest and preparation before we travel to San Diego.

Any players on D stand out tonight?

And this will game will be shown on NFL Sunday Ticket on Sunday?

I just got in from work, and all I know is what I've read here so far, and the final score.
Miami's big run happened on the first play from scrimmage at the second half. Ronnie Brown ran to the outside, narrowly running past Jared Allen and DJ(?) when Greg Wesely put a big hit on him. Not a textbook tackle, however. Brown, in an amazing show of balance, stayed in bounds on one foot, and took it down the sideline 65 yards to the endzone. Apparantly, the other defenders thought he went out on Wesley's hit.

The garbage time TD pass happened with about 2 and ahalf minutes left in the 4th. We had gone for it on 4th down, not wanting to run up the score, and didnt convert. Miami ball, and the bring in Sage Rosenfels to signal call the clean up minutes. Rosenfels' first play finds Chambers deep, in this odd spot in between Warfield and Knight, and Chambers took it to the house. Without those two plays, they might not have gotten a TD the entire game. Our D outphysical'd the Miami offense overall.

The long run was the Dolphins first play of the 3rd qtr. Ronnie Brown broke a "tackle" by Wesley and raced down the field as the rest of defense watched, they thought he stepped out of bounds. As far as defensive players standing out......... ehh Surtain looked good, but he actually saw a little action tonite since McCleon was not playing. No real standouts, pretty solid performance all the way around with the exception of the 2 big plays.

Offensive line looked awesome with Welbourn in the game.... Trent had all day to pass.
Thanks.

Just watched the highlights on NFL Network.

Wesley needs to wrap up.

Surtain was a beast. He had 2 nearly 100% INT's, both got stripped by the Phins receivers. Finally Surtain looked like the all-Pro DB he's supposed to be.

Also, not to burst anyone's bubble or anything, but we did so well on pass D in part due to Gus not being able to throw the ball anywhere within 5 yards of the intended receiver. We dominated the run, though (with the exception of that one play), it was nice to see the table of the Phins first 5 (or so) posessions:
PUNT
PUNT
PUNT
PUNT

We played awesome overall, IMO, and if those penalties didn't kick our ass and the garbage time TD never happened, it would be a freaking blow out (I know, I know... there are no if's in this game, but still). I was extremely happy with the D-Line too, Allen didn't do nearly as much (obviously), but hey Hicks got a sack. Browning was in their faces all night as well.

EDIT: Also, for those of you who didn't see the game, the place was pretty fucking empty, lol.

Heh, fixed before you posted... it was a brainfart. Sims isn't playing for at least another couple weeks.

Any new word on Sims, or is it still a wait and see if he needs surgery?

I think they are still working on getting the last of the sand out of his vagina. Then they can look at the medical problems.

Must say the stats from the game have me pleased. Another completed drive for a TD instead of all the field goals would have been a little more impressive. However it appears we had a complete team victory.

He did alright. 10 tackles. Nothing spectacular, but did his job. I think he'll be a solid pro, remember he only played 2 years at Florida before jumping to the NFL. He has great raw talent, but there's still skill to be learned. Starting alongside Zach Thomas and (normally) Junior Seau should help.

Of course I agree with this, but having Tynes kick FGs of 51 and 52 yards was a confidence booster for him and for us that was needed.

Now let's hope Tynes didn't blow his whole wad tonight. We might need him to do that again late in the season.

All in all, I was very glad to see him show some real power and accuracy tonight.
