The guy's point is stupid. It was a different era. John Elway had ONE 4,000 yard season, and it came in the 90s.

Weren't those the same players that Montana took to the AFCC?

Just the idea of bringing Montana the GOAT QB IMO into an Alex Smith conversation is ****ing looney tunes.

Actually the point of bringing up Montana was to demonstrate that you don't have to throw for 4000 yards to be a great QB. There were LOTs of QBS that threw consistently for more yards than Joe. Joe was...Joe Cool. He was clutch. He made his team play better than they were.

I'm not sure what the point of this conversation is.

The best QBs today are throwing for a **** ton of yards.

Stats are for fantasy football. All I care about is wins. So time will tell if Alex Smith will be successful as far as wins. Yards? I don't give a shit.

Loved Marcus Allen. Cash was injured, JJ was with another team and willie was in 96 too.

Looks like Chris Penn, Sean LaChapelle, Danan Hughes, some guy named Joe Horn (KC really blew it with him) and Reggie Johnson? You had Webster Slaughter the year before who was a good wr, but it looks like he was injured all the time?

With the exception of the superbowl and this week, Colin has not thrown 300+ games. I think he's one of the best out there.

Yep, but bringing in Montana in a Alex Smith thread is delusional.

Yeah, dipshit JakeMall forgot to account for era.

Even if you account for era, Montana had a 10 year run from 81-90(the years where he started ever game he played) of averaging 240 yards per.

Even in pass happy today's NFL, Alex Smith is the 175-190 yard king.

Only from these clowns would you see a ****ing Alex Smith/ Joe Montana comparison.
