Short-range accurate guys who don't make mistakes but also don't make plays downfield (or push it downfield very often) just don't sell as anything other than game managers. Trying to sell a game manager around here, and on top of that, a game manager cast-off from San Francisco... just isn't going to be met well.

The Chiefs have always had this thing backwards. Alex Smith, Matt Cassel etc is a move you make when you're first round QB just busted hard, or he needs some competition or to be groomed.
If they wanna bring in Smith, to bridge the gap to Geno, fine, do it. I don't see it, but ok. But when you are a new coach, new regime, new team, you need something to reenergize. If you wanna say maybe that guy isn't available, ok. I'll say thats probably bullshit, but you can say it. The Matt Cassels or Alex Smiths, don't re energize fanbases. They actually, IMO, go the opposite way. If you bring that guy in, you damn sure better win NOW. No learning curve, none of that. Win NOW and win BIG. |

GOATSE, that was some good information.
Can you tell me what % of balls Kaepernick threw over 20 yards downfield? That might be a very, very, very damning statistic for Smith. |

Looking at SB winners from the past 8 years would probably hurt the Alex Smith QB's odds of winning a SB even more.

It saddens me that there are actual fans out there sad that this Alex Smith deal hasn't and hopefully won't happen. What the hell is wrong with these people. Alex Smith is a below average starting qb and that's being generous

If the Chiefs draft a QB at No. 1 and it doesn't work out, I'll be forgiving. If they draft Luke Joeckel, let Brandon Albert walk, and bring in Alex Smith and someone like Sean Renfree in round 5, they're going to have to prove it works before I believe in it and before I let myself care. Any trust I have in Reid/Dorsey is instantly cashed in if they try the same old crap that all their predecessors have tried.

Yeah, if they do that, I'm out. I'm not waiting around to see if it works because it won't.

I just find it hard to believe that Andy came to KC over Arizona so he could use the first overall pick on a LT and trade for Alex Smith. He could've done that shit in Arizona and picked Fisher or Johnson
