For a white, Cycles Gladiator Chardonnay is a great value. You can usually find it between $8-$10. If you're really watching your budget, the Barefoot Chardonnay is probably the best white that you'll find in the $5-$6 range.
For a red, the Smooking Loon Pinot Noir isn't too shabby. You can usually find it in between $8-$10. It doesn't have a lot of "character", but it's worth trying. For a Shiraz, Marquis Philips is outstanding. It's an Australian that tends to run in the $15-$17 range. Another red that you'd probably like if you don't want anything too dry is the Ecco Domani Chianti. You can usually find it in the $8-$10 range, and it makes a good table wine. |

If you are going to throw up seafood I would go with the Red.
