I will try the suggestion above. I have a laptop and the other devices connected are an ipad and 2 pc's not directly connected. Everything in the house is wifi connected.

Uverse is IP based solution, so the cable runs into the main uverse router, and then from there you can either use cable to your boxes or networking cat5 type cable to them. But they all communicate through there for the whole home DVR, etc. There is no cost for their router though. Myself, I have the wireless turned off and have a wife router plugged into it. For some reason they are still using b/g and not n. I had an electric strike and even the latest box doesn't use n. I was a bit shocked.

I keep hearing about these wife routers. I keep trying different models but I haven't found the right mix of throughput and longevity lol
