The Motorcycle Discussion Thread

I figure there are some motorcycle guys/gals on CP, so I thought we could have a place to talk all things Motorcycles.

Tire Mount and Balance Prices (as of 10/29/16)

Prices based on if you remove the wheels yourself and bring the wheels and new tires with you:

Cycle Gear - $35 per wheel if you buy tires from them. $58 per wheel if you buy tires elsewhere
Rawhide - $65 per wheel (assuming it would be the same at other HD dealers. they book it at 1/2 hr per wheel)
C R Cycle Tires (DeSoto) - $30 per wheel

Cheapest I've found my Michelin Commander II's. Seem like they have good prices on other brands too.
http://www.jakewilson.com - Free 3 day shipping on orders over $75

So I am looking for tires for my Triumph.
Dam tires are expensive. But I found these and they are getting pretty good reviews. And considering I usually only get a season out of tires anyway I may try them out. To be able to get a set of tires for under $200...pretty unheard of.

Anybody here of this company?

Riding through town is great without the windshield. But for long rides, it is wonderful. I rode last year from the Tobasco plant (Lafayette?) 2 hours into New Orleans at 70-80mph. That sucked. Hard on your neck. However, I've gotten to the point of just leaving my windshield on all the time. I've had a couple of times where a rock got kicked up and I was glad the windshield took that instead of my face. Same with bugs.

yeah. I got smacked with a june bug once, and it felt like I got punched in the face lol

I agree - highway riding for longer distances w/out of a fairing/windshield will kick your ass. after long rides etc, I would come home and be cashed lol.

Worth HD; north KC.

they had a shitload of bikes. good lord.

Looking at the 2013 base MSRP on it; $10.6k + the $700 candy option.....I'd say I got a good deal at $10k.

Haven't actually been to Worth myself. Been in Rawhide a couple of times as well as Gail's. Funny thing about Worth. When I was looking for my new bike, I submitted an email query to several places with everything I was looking for (color, model, pipes, sissy bar, luggage rack, Heritage handlebars, etc.), including Worth. All of the other places emailed and called my very soon after that. Worth, however didn't call me back until about a month/month and half later. I told them thanks but I bought the bike within a week or two from the time I submitted that query. Lol, early bird catches the worm.

yep; I experienced that from a few dealers.
Rawhide called me on Saturday and I told them I just bought one. After on Thursday they said they didn't have any 13's but could order me a 14.

Ya, I took my FatBob to Springfield and back one day this summer... 200 miles each way. Do not have a fairing or a windshield, yet.

My neck from the wind pulling on the lid of the helmet was just dead tired. The part that really surprised me was my legs. Having the FWD controls, I really had to fight towards the end of the trip to keep my legs in a comfortable position without squeezing against the wind. The next day my legs were extremely sore.

The next two things to go on the bike will be some highway pegs and a custom fairing\windshield for comfort. Unfortunately, the only fairing out there for a FatBob is the stupid BatWing by Memphis Shades. I don't like it on the Fatbob, looks out of place. I'd rather get a smaller fairing with a longer windshield, but they don't friggen make them for the Fat Bob. It's the only Dyna with the dual headlight, so they just decided to not make them... *sigh*

I found one mom and pop shop that makes a custom mold, but there is no attachment for a windshield. I want one of those for long-distances...

Custom Fairing

You're not a real biker until you can identify all the bugs by taste.

Well, I bought my bike from Worth... and I bought my wife's bike from Rawhide.... Will have to be honest, Rawhide can't hold Worth's jock in any capacity. Not really a testament of how good Worth is, just how bad Rawhide was...

Worth actually gave a crap about me. If I asked for something, they gave it to me. They worked with me and got me into what I wanted, with add-ons, price, etc... Rawhide was not flexible about anything. Nothing.

You know the old business saying "worry about dollars not cents", Rawhide worries about cents.. and in the end it's gonna cost them dollars, cause I won't do anything with them ever again. Even my service, etc I'll go up North for.

I REALLY hated moths and the like. I remember I was wearing a mesh jacket, and making my way home at dusk in the summer; I got home and I had the equivelant of a moth mass-grave on my jacket. IMPOSSIBLE to get out. I just left them there, and eventually the slain body parts fell off.
