The Motorcycle Discussion Thread

I figure there are some motorcycle guys/gals on CP, so I thought we could have a place to talk all things Motorcycles.

Tire Mount and Balance Prices (as of 10/29/16)

Prices based on if you remove the wheels yourself and bring the wheels and new tires with you:

Cycle Gear - $35 per wheel if you buy tires from them. $58 per wheel if you buy tires elsewhere
Rawhide - $65 per wheel (assuming it would be the same at other HD dealers. they book it at 1/2 hr per wheel)
C R Cycle Tires (DeSoto) - $30 per wheel

Cheapest I've found my Michelin Commander II's. Seem like they have good prices on other brands too.

Approximately 850 round trip. Lazy, 2-3 day trip I presume. That range works for CA as well mostly.

I think you would be ok w/out a fairing on the Breakout. We did 700 in 3 days this past weekend. My brother on a night train and me on my 72. We were a little beat up by the time we got home, but nothing so bad that we won't do such a ride again.

I think Victory's are the best kept secret among V-twins.

the only thing I've heard is they're a bit of a pain to sell via private party. I've heard this from the 4 or 5 buddies I have that have owned them. simply because of the used HD market. But for me, personally, I don't let such things dissuade me from buying one. I'd buy one for sure.

That Hardball looks killer. I'm a sucker for baggers and bobbers.

I'm really digging this bike, plus it's about $5000 cheaper that the comparable HD and has a 106 cubic inch engine.

yep, exatly.
the only thing I would like to see done differently on that particular Victory is to have a slightly larger/diameter front wheel. other that, it's damn near perfect.

yeah, it's really a coin flip. and basically just what floats your boat cosmetically.
and, of course, the price.

So thought I would jump back in on this.

I just bought a 2001 Triumph Sprint RS 955i. no fairings (they are half naked to start with) or headlight, but came with a headlight ill have to install and get wired up. Good Pirelli super corsa 3's, not banged up or beat up, clean bike.

500 bucks on the bro price from one of my sales managers here at work. He bought it as a trade in here a while back, didn't like the headlight so took it off, then got bored with it. I pretty much stole the thing from him. Cheap ones are bringing about 1500-2000, I figure ill ride it this season, see how I feel about it and sell it off next year if I get the inkling~
