Goddamn, I'm tired.

Had I stayed up that late and we lost, I might have murdered a hobo on my way to work.

For those who haven't really paid attention to some of the reasons WHY the Avs have been so fun to watch this season:

Patrick Roy pulled Varlamov with 3:02 to go in the game (down by 1). He put Stastny, O'Reilly, Landeskog, MacKinnon, Barrie, and Johnson on the ice. Those six guys DID NOT COME OFF THE ICE until the goal was scored at 0:13 left. Roy is constantly doing this kind of stuff that seems insane, but somehow works.

Oh, and to add to the Erik Johnson discussion from earlier in the thread, the Wild chucked a shot toward the net with about a minute to go in regulation, and Johnson somehow managed to kick it into high gear and save the puck from going in from about 4" out.

Fun game. I'm tired.

Congrats to the Blues/Avs fans on here. Fun wins for sure.

I went to bed after the 2nd period of the LA game, which is apparently when the Kings realized the playoffs had started.

They actually were within 2 goals with 6 minutes to play, but had nothing left. Hopefully they can ride some of that momentum into Game 2.

The team I watch in Omaha has a coach who does similar stuff... he's pulled the goalie with 4 minutes left down by a couple of goals, he's not afraid to put 5 forwards on the ice, and he's also put 5 defensemen out a time or two when the forwards haven't shown up.

If it wasn't for how many times they've come back in those situations this year and 2 years ago, I would have had no faith and might have even gone to bed... it's no way to survive an entire playoff season, but damn it's fun.... that place had to be a mad house last night.

Yeah, that's no kidding. When the equalizer was scored, it was as loud as I've heard Arrowhead in there for a bit. Everyone was jumping around and even hugging each other. During the intermission, people were chanting in the halls as if we'd already won the game. Everyone just KNEW that the game was ours.

Like you said, they can't keep that up and need to be better defensively from here on, but it makes for a great time when it works.

I had a similar mindset at the end of the 3rd... Oh shit, they've done it again! Well, they still need one mor--- weeeeee!

And hey, the Blackhawks/Blues are on NBC tomorrow, so they won't get blacked out for the Royals.

Wow those games were awesome last night. That Eric Johnson play reminded me of a play in an MISL game a long time ago with the Wichita Wings and St Louis Steamers, a Wings player saved and empty net goal and the Wings tied it and won in OT. Had to be awesome to be at both the Blues and AVS games.

I have no doubts that the Kings will make the series interesting. Sometimes games just don't go your way.

Yes. Yes it was. I'm glad the Avs game didn't go to 3OT though - that makes for a long night (and following day I'd imagine).

OT games when your team loses are awful. The more OTs the worse it gets. The next day is hell.
