At this point, Dilfer is the frontrunner. Vermiel was gushing with praise for Dilfer after he wowed him in the interview. IMO, Beuerlein is too old for his taste, IMO...

My personal favorite would be Beuerlein. Actually I'm just posting cause I've spent the last two days installing a new computer and I'm just happy to be up running and back on the board.
When it comes to computers I'm blond. :)

If health really is the main concern with Steve B, then why seriously make a push for Griese? I mean, the guy has had 3 major issues with his throwing shoulder - two within the last 18 months. And, he hasn't been able to throw since his latest surgery.
We know that Denver has thrown out a 7 yr $42M contract his way, so is KC really willing to up the ante to acquire him? Sure, I'll admit KC is trying to jack the price higher (as is Griese) and KC is trying to put pressure on the Rams for Green. But, would you guys really be excited if Griese accepted KC's presumed higher offer and Denver didn't match? I mean, many of you have predicted that he won't complete a full season. Do those opinions change if he does come to KC? Also, KC is up in arms about giving up a #1 for Green... however, if they sign Griese, they will definitely give up a #1 and a #3. Thoughts...

I don't see any offer forthcoming from us regarding Griese. That is IMO something the press is exaggerating. Probably in reality more Griese's agent trying to get as much as he can involved in the deal before signing w/o getting on the plane and pissing off the Broncos, than anything the Chiefs are really doing.

To answer your quesiton Mile High...Griese is much younger than Beuerlein and therefore able to recover better from his surgeries...or so it is thought...
If he were such damaged goods, no way the Broncs would offer him 42 mil...I'd love to see him in KC but it ain't gonna happen... The talk around the media experts is that we should jump all over Beuerlein because the Rams ain't gonna budge and Dilfer would be disaster for us... I still want Green, but I'd rather have Beuerlein then Dilfer...my guess is that we get Beuerlein this year and wait for Green to become a FA...unless of course the Rams agree to the 1st round swap

Beuerlein is out, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
Vermeil is soft on him because of his injuries. With Beuerlein out of the picture, and Aikman retiring, it's looking more and more that Dilfer or Trent Green will be our QB. They're the only two options left. |

Oh Canada, Oh Canada (sorry)
I know that KC is soft on Steve B due to his injuries but don't rule him out yet... We all know that Vermeil wants Green...but, if we don't get him by the draft...then we will have more time to evaluate Steve B. and Dilfer... If we don't get Green, and because no one is showing much interest in Dilfer and Steve B...we may be able to wait it out until Beuerlein is healthy enought to at least allow us to evaluate him properly...

Face it folks, Trent Dilfer is the next quarterback of your Kansas City Chiefs.
The worst part about this is we will now have to form our stupid little factions. The lines have been drawn, choose your side. Are you going to be a Dilfriend or a Dilfoe? Hmm, that would be a perfect question for my first poll. This board needs more polls. Heheheh.... :D Last edited by DaWolf; 04-09-2001 at 03:09 PM.. |

It won't matter who our QB is, I will be a Dilfor or a Beuerbacker, or a Collins Comrade or a......whatever...if they play for the Chiefs they are okay with me....
Besides...we all know that Dilfer or Beuerlein are temp measures, unless of course Dilfer is ourQB and all of a suddne he finds some new found talent... He might do okay in the dink and dunk dept...but his accuracy is suspect as is his arm strength...

I don't really want Dilfer, or Green (not for a 1st anyway) or Griese either. I'm not convinced that Griese hasn't done permanent damage to his shoulder. IMO continuing to play that one game where he was clearly hurt was a pretty stupid thing to do. Sure, he won the "heart" award or whatever they call it, but he sure didn't do his shoulder any good either.
I wanted Buerlein, but I guess that's out the window. I guess we're just screwed. Dilfer seems to have a great attitude, but he flat out sucks. Still, I'd rather have Dilfer and a #1 than Green and nothing. By the way, why don't they have post #'s on the posts anymore? I'm stuck using a sloooooooow modem and I usually start reading before the page is completely done downloading. The numbers let me know if I can start yet or not. That is the one feature the other BB has that this one needs to adopt.

Yosef I wouldn't give up on Beuerlein yet...DV sounded like he wanted him if it weren't for him still being hurt and not being available until May or June...as I said before, If we don't get Green, we will have more time to evaluate the situation...I have a feeling that we will get Green for less then a first...swaping firsts probably.

Personally I would like to have Trent Green. But I do think Dilfer could do a fine job with the Chiefs. He is healthy and does seem to fit in well with the players. That is an important factor since our last QB. didn't get along with the players well..
Be it Green or Dilfer I think either would work for the Chiefs.
