Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

If you want to win with alex, you build strong personnel, solid coaching, and a good dependable defense. So lets look at drafting a QB this year:

There is not a #1 overall talent, so cross that off your wish list. So you get a guy later in the first round. You throw him onto a very bad team with a new scheme and you expect that unorganized cluster**** to somehow lead to an eventual superbowl???

Alex gives you time to develop a team that a young QB can take over and do well. have a little respect for a couple of the better QB minds in the game. Reid and Jim harbaugh have both proven to be very good with quarterbacks, and the fact that they both want this guys should tell you a little something about the less obvious things he brings to a football team.
dumbass, we've been here before. we were here in 2009, we took the route you suggest, and we are here again in 2013. we are done with this debate. we don't want another team's TRASH! it doesn't work. no matter how many times you tell yourself it will, it just doesn't. leave.

It's cool man. Some people are acting like a bunch of pmsing women lately. CP needs some midol and tampons right now.

Don't take it personal.

You don't give away two second round picks for a two year stopgap, ****stick. Why is that so hard to figure out? Where's the QB Reid is supposedly going to groom? He certainly isn't getting drafted in April.

Moron I don't want this team to need all world talent everywhere else except the QB position to win anything of meaning. That is where we are with Alex Smith.

Alex smith was drafted #1 overall, so you have a high first round pick, what's the problem?

After the Chiefs traded for Cassel, CP was invaded by Patriots fans telling us what a great QB he was going to be and how we would really like him. Then they went back to their team with their franchise QB.

Now, the Chiefs again trade for another team's garbage and here comes that team's fans to pat us on our heads and tell how lucky we will be when he leads us to 8-8.

**** y'all.

WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO DRAFT THE YOUNG, TALENTED GUY?

With the 65th pick in this draft?

With the 98th?

With a yet-to-be-determined pick next year?

This trade limits both the options AND likelihood the Chiefs will draft that young guy or even be in position to draft him, and it brings in a guy who is a game manager, a placeholder, who you have to win in SPITE of, not BECAUSE of.

That's why it sucks.

I see it. Smith is our stop gap. It is history repeating itself again, but unfortunately, there isn't a sure fire QB in draft according to the powers that be. Chiefs have some seriously bad luck. Bad, horrible year to have the first pick. So, trade for Smcith and draft a QB in later rounds and groom him. Pray for the best. We've done this before. Hoping it goes differently. That's all we can do.

Tom Brady is the only notable exception in recent NFL history. We've already fired one moron GM who thought that was a repeatable find.

Other QBs who have won a SB in past 10 years:

Eli Manning x2 (No. 1 overall)
Peyton Manning (No. 1 overall)
Ben Roethlisberger x2 (No. 11)
Aaron Rodgers (No. 24, dumb draft day slide)
Joe Flacco (No. 18)
Drew Brees (No. 33, technically a second-rounder but for all intents a first-round guy. Also someone who dumbly was allowed to slide on draft day)

No, there isn't a QB according to perception.

If the Jets were drafting #1 overall, I bet your soon-to-be-repaired knee someone among Geno, Barkley, or Wilson would be named the unquestioned best pick in the draft.
