Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

I haven't bothered to update my list in a while. It just hasn't been worth the trouble.

Scrolling through the next 25, I probably should delete my "Tank Tyler was a steal" list item.

You like Smith not because of his talent or ability to win, but because of some bullshit uplifting crap about how he's a great individual and a hard worker, and he just needs chance number 9 to prove it! Meh.....

Definite and consistent improvement in the number that matters the most.
This is only because he started completing more short passes, not because he was going down the field.

It certainly doesn't matter, because Harbaugh didn't care about Alex's YPA when he benched him.

Just connecting dots here.

Where did you find the time machine to get here from 1985?

Not really. In fact, its refreshing because its going to decide a lot of things for me in terms of where football is going to rank in regards to importance in my life.

To be honest hte only stud in that group is McCoy. Jackson is hit or miss. Maclin has been a bust for where he was taken, he's the perennial break out player. Celek has hands like feet and we are clamouring to rid ourselves of him. Then you have these gems: McDougle, Freddie Mitchell, Kevin Kolb, trading out of the first round multiple times, Shawn Andrews (great pick but didn't pan out), Bunkley, Patterson... he seems to not be able to draft in the 1st round because he tries to make everyone think hes smarter than the room and hits on an unknown.

I still think Brandon Graham will be decent.

Andy does do great with QBs so maybe he thinks he can turn around Alex Smith.

I seriously doubt Reid/Dorsey gave up two high draft picks just solely for Alex Smith. They got something in return, and I bet they have something else up their sleeves also. There is no way on this earth they're gonna start their regime with only Alex Smith as the marquee.

Yeah, this. They're not that stupid. I'm guessing that we're giving up our lower 3rd and Smith for KC's 2013 second and a conditional 2014. Smith will be the safe stop gap for whoever it is Reid has his eye on to start in a year or two.

Herm just said that KC should "try to trade down and turn around and draft another quarterback"

I don't think I misunderstood him and think he meant in the first.

Made it a point to hammer home that Reid isn't done at quarterback.
