Imagine had any of these guys had that kind of production in any of their particular seasons in 2012 or 2013. I'd assume they might even be higher. Like 2000, for example:

Manning (IND)
Garcia (SF)
Grbac (KC)
Culpepper (MIN)
Favre (GB)
Testaverde (NYJ)
Beuerlein (CAR)
Brunell (JAX)
Collins (NYG)

There are only three playoff quarterbacks on this list, though admittedly there'd probably be a 4th had Trent Green finished the season / Warner somehow started the season instead. So the ninth guy on the list made it to the Superbowl and lost to Trent Dilfer, the first guy on the list lost to the Dolphins in overtime in the wildcard round. Culpepper's team was shut out and had 41 hung on them by the Superbowl runner-up.

There's a whoooooole lot of mediocrity on this list with four of the list heading teams with losing records and two at one win over .500%.

Perhaps leading leading a league season in yards might not be a flawless indicator of actual production.

Even in pass happy today's NFL, Alex Smith is the 175-190 yard king.

Only from these clowns would you see a ****ing Alex Smith/ Joe Montana comparison.

Yeah, pick Montana's worst statistical year with the 49ers as your point. That's real genuine, guy.

Even in that year, he averaged 212 per game. Somthing Smiff in today's pass happy league will not sniff.

Now fast forward to 89', where Montana won the superbowl and led the NFL with 270 yards per game.

You're an idiot of epic proportions.

You're still trying to compare the QBs..and that wasn't why it was brought up. Listen again...you don't have to lead the league in passing yards to be the best QB. Montana is a perfect example of that.

Did you see the 89' stat? I'm not comparing the 2 QB's. Only a fanboy would do that.

I'm arguing your point that "passing yards don't matter". You're now trying to save yourself by saying "leading the league in passing yards", but the real truth is that Montana for a 10 year run was quite productive at getting yards per game. If Alex Smith was averaging 240 yards per game, but not quite leading the league in passing yards, there'd be no real issues with Smith's play.

240 X 16= 3840. Think Alex ever gets there?

According to OldFart, the only reason for Alex's conservative play was all because Harbaugh held him back purposely.

Some of the shit you read in here is high comedy stupidity.

Aren't you the same guy who described one of Smith's preseason screen passes as a beautiful pass?

Who the hell describes a screen pass as a beautiful pass other than an Alex/Tebow jock sniffer? Please let me know.
