Which WWII fighter would you fly?
I saw an interesting program today on people who refurbish old WWII planes. Got me to thinking, if you had the money which one would you try to find? A description of fighters can be found at acepilots

I would fly any one of those planes that I could get my hands on. But I would definately want to fly the P-38 because of it's speed and firepower..... The P-51 Mustang runs a close second for me...

Man, you guys are quick. 9 answers before I even got the poll up. I loved to watch Baa Baa Blacksheep, so I went with the Corsair.

The P-47 is one of the most underrated planes in history.
If you ever get the chance to visit the Palm Springs airport, the have the largest collection of still flying WWII aricraft in the country. They even have a B17 and a B25 that still fly. It is ran by all volunteers who are WWII vets. I spent several hours there just talking to these guys. One of the B17 pilots was on the Berlin bombing raid. Over 1000 planes on that raid. I highly recommend it for the history these guys can pass on. |
