Star Wars Geeks:

Is there a book or something that covers the time period between EPI and EPII? Specifically, I'm curious how Dooku became the Sidious's apprentice? Did Sidious start grooming him after Maul dies, or had he already been working on Dooku in much the same way he was grooming Anakin for a prolonged period?

Interesting....Yoda refers to Dooku as his former apprentice when the duel in Episode II, but the wiki has Dooku serving as apprentice to another Jedi Master.

Yeah. I read that. Evidently Yoda took a keen interest and mentored Dooku quite a bit, even though he wasn't technically Yoda's Padawan.

And, yeah. I found that link and spent way, way too much time going down that wormhole. Man. The SW universe is insanely developed.

Kind of off topic, but... You know who really doesn't get enough credit for the success of Star Wars? Ralph McQuarrie, the conceptual illustrator that Lucas worked with on all of three of the original movies. Do a search for him on Google Images. The guy's work is just incredibly gorgeous. And without him, a lot of the iconic visuals just don't exist. Things like Vader's mask, Stormtrooper uniforms, Death Star interiors, etc, etc. I would love to get my hands on some prints of his artwork.

There is a book that takes place between Episodes II and III where yoda goes after Dooku during the Clone Wars that develops a bit more of the backstory. Others touched on this, but he was a gifted padawan that got really sick of the light side teachings so he left the academy.

....that was great. If nothing else it stresses than Lucas really needed strong colllaborators to help him flesh out the script and continuity instead of doing everything himself on the prequels.

Now that question can be put to rest. Attack of the Clones 3-D hits movie screens September 20, 2013 and Revenge of the Sith follows it a few weeks later, on October 11th.
Any chance you can tell me who won the superbowl?

I'll be curious to see if the original Star Wars films can still draw bigger box office than the prequels upon their rereleases, but more from a self-vindication standpoint than anything, really. No matter what, I hope they all perform because I like the nationwide giant re-release platform and want to see more vintage cinema in real deal big outings, not just exclusive one-evening showings. The more money these things make, the more likely we'll see more of it. Now if we can just get the studios comfortable with 2D re-releases...
Ummm what? The last thing anyone wants is to see theaters crammed with re-releases. JFC

The Phantom Menace made more than $102 million at the box office and it's pure profit for the studio, Lucasfilm and the movie theater chains.

There will be more that follow this model, as there is another generation of kids that haven't seen these movies in a theater before.
