So is NASCAR more dangerous than Indy car? Seems like the dudes have gotta be crazy in Indy car. Their god damn head is sticking out of the vehicle when going 200 mph. What if they flip or get rammed and tip ober? Looks like those cars could be light and have a chance to fly in the air somewhat if getting airborne

No not even close. Open wheel is way more dangerous. NASCAR has made leaps in safety post Dale~

In Formula 1 the last racing death was 20 years ago - Three-time Formula 1 World Champion Ayrton Senna. Although, there have been serious career ending accidents.

According to IndyCar.com over the same 20 years, seven IndyCar drivers were killed in races.

In IndyCar, the danger is everywhere on oval and having 230 mph cars side-by-side do not make the sport safe. In Formula 1, the peril is in cornering. While a mistake on a road course can send a Formula 1 driver spinning off the track, a mistake on an oval can send an IndyCar flying into a concrete barrier.

IndyCar has come a long way with safer walls and barriers and have followed some of Formula 1 safety advancements. Indianapolis Motor Speedway has copied Formula 1 and now has a mobile state-of-the-art trauma center at every race.

Nevertheless, there will always be risks associated with racing, no matter the motorsport.
