This came on HBO tonight. It was really interesting to finally see how things really work behind the scenes in the nfl. At the end I raised my fist like Judd Nelson.

Watched this probably 3 months ago, and while it wasnt exactly what I wanted it was still a pretty decent glimpse into the office of an amalgam NFL GM. The hardball, frenemy negotiating between cocky bastards was pretty close to what I imagine it can be at times... ones eating a hearty breakfast while the other is dealing with his taciturn woman yada yada discussing the fate of empires. But yeah look, at no time was this considered an intimate look at some particular GM, yet it did strike me as a reasonable glimpse into the pressures and vagaries they all face. Its a really good movie, not great. THE genre defining football movie hasnt been made yet IMO, baseball has been covered soooooo much better. |

And I think the baseball thing just works better with movies. Hard to explain what I mean there. |

Recorded it late last night, it was ok. Jennifer Garner was the only reason to watch it.

If you make a movie about the NFL draft I have no clue what the plot would be. I thought they tried their best. I've seen worse.

I didn't think it was good. The pregnant girlfriend subplot was dumb. The bitter mom relationship was underdeveloped or just shoehorned into the overall story. "Any Given Sunday", though flawed, is much better. Denis Leary as an NFL coach? Maybe when Todd Haley becomes a head coach...er. wait...

I will say this.... Some comical shit in here that was unintentionally funny:
-Overbearing Cleveland owner who interferes with his GM's business. #TextGate anyone? -Cleveland passes on a QBOTF -Kansas City tries to trade for an underachieving veteran QB with good character |
