Simply Safe Home Security System

Highly rated on Facebook
Great reviews from the press
Totally wireless
250 bucks or so for the system and you own it
15 bucks per month 24/7 monitoring that you can cancel at anytime.
Clark Howard says it's good

Does anyone here have one, and if so how do you like it.

Now the jammer will work but the alarm still goes off and if you buy the outside extra alarm it's suppose to be as loud as the front row at a rock concert...

I live in a modest house in a modest neighborhood, I don't expect people from the movies to come in and steal a couple of my guns and a laptop or two.

Are you sure? I'd have to see the schematics of the system in question, but most don't have an audible alarm built directly into each sensor. Most are bluetooth or wifi connectivity between the sensors and the main unit which houses the audible/signal alarms. This jammer blocks the GSM signal to the monitoring service as well any sensor to controller wireless activity.

It's not like this gear is "hollywood". Truckers use these units to block GPS signals on their trucks to keep from being tracked. You can buy these online for pretty cheap. The jammer I linked to is CHEAPER than your alarm system. Hell, I'd take your alarm system on the way out the door as well!

I guess I just don't see the point of these half-assed "peace of mind" products.

The system can be used with or without monitoring Also it says the signal is transmitted within 2 seconds... Also the base station can be put anywhere, I am not sure of the range of the jammer.

The delay on the audible alarm can be adjusted up to 30 seconds upon entry.

Ok, point taken, what do you call a quality peace of mind product when you are not home?

Range is about 20 meters on the cheaper units.

Still don't know how the signal works between sensor and base. Easy to test though. Park outside and turn the jammer on. Wait 60 seconds. No alarm, have at it!

That would be a kick in the sack. Come home and not only are your guns gone, but the alarm system has been packed up and boosted.

They better hope the cops run them down, before I do.

Any idea what the range is on those cell jammers?

Edit: I see you answered that, while I was making the post.

Properly bolted into the foundation.

Things that don't go in there, like TV's and laptops I just rely on insurance. Data I rely on TrueCrypt and backups in the safe. SDB as well for soft/hard copies, some cash, and other precious items.

I used to use these little portable alarm systems called Tattletale alarms all the time. They work pretty well. Hit me up if you have questions.
