Are you willing to pay for USA products?

I bought a new couch today that is high quality and 100% made in the USA. It's a Stickley, if you know the brand. They pay their workers well with full benefits. I could have bought a similar "looking" couch from Nebraska Furniture Mart for about 1/3 the price, but they sell crap.

There's also a clothing store in the KC area that sells jeans that are 100% USA made. The workers who fabricate the jeans from start to finish are well paid with full benefits. A pair costs $200.

Walmart recently said they're moving back to the Made in the USA when possible. That will be a rough road.

The question is: Do you support workers in the USA, or do you take advantage of cheap Asian labor?

I do try to buy USA and from smaller businesses. Its about price, quality, ect.

But to answer your question, it depends on the product and dropoff in quality. I buy US manufactured tools because they'll last a lifetime compared to their chinese counterparts. But if we're talking about shoes or clothes, I don't even look at where it's made. I just look for quality materials and stitching.

Ashley, the biggest furniture seller in the US, sources its furniture and components from China and Vietnam for the most part. Shipping a sofa is no different that shipping a refrigerator from Asia. Ashley isn't alone in that game.

What tools do you buy that are made in the US? I own stock in SWK which is Stanley plus Black and Decker. They also own DeWalt. They shut down US manufacturing in the US in 2003. It's all made in China, Mexico and the Czech Republic.

I will buy American, only if it's a small percentage more. Definitely not paying $200 for a pair of Damn jeans

All of furniture is American made, I spent a lot of money but it holds up great. Chair and Sofa both made by Lee Industries.

I shop on what I like as opposed to price and where it's made.

I prefer quality over price.

If I had to pay a small 10-15% premium to buy American of EQUAL or better quality, I would. I'm not buying an american product that falls apart just to say I bought American.
