What is Jared Allen worth?

Assuming King Carl wants to work out a long term contract with DUI Man, what would it be worth?

DeWayne White (14 sacks and 108 tackles over the last 3 years) just signed a contract for 5 yr worth 24 mil with 13 mil guaranteed.

Chris Kelsay (12.5 sacks and 142 tackles over the last 3 years) just signed a contract for 4 yr worth 23 mil with 13 mil guaranteed.

Allen has 27.5 sacks (double the other guys) and 163 tackles during that time period. Plus, we all know JA has had little to no help on the interior and no help at DE except for part of this past year.

What is Allen worth 5 years with 18-19 guaranteed??

That's probably a starting point. He'll end up with a double digit signing bonus, to be sure.

Allen is solid in all phases of the game. It can be argued if he's elite or not just yet, but the man will be paid. I could see him getting slapped with the franchise tag next year.

18 M sounds fair. but Carl P won't play that game, if he doesn't straighten up,grow up and fly right.

He Needs a very SOLID 2007.

A Probowl would help his cause.

Can he even go to the Pro Bowl if he serves a suspension? Didn't the league make a rule about substance violations and the Pro Bowl after Shawne Merriman's incident? I might be wrong.

I like Allen but he put himself in the position he is currently in. Two strikes against him in the NFL substance abuse program is a big negative. I think he cost himself alot of money when he decided to get behind the wheel of the car those two nights.

I hope he gets paid and stays. He's not only a talented guy, he plays with heart and enthusiasm. I remember that game last year when he ran down and tackled a guy in the flat. can't remember which game, but even the commentators were like "damn!"

It would be interesting to know what number he and his agent came in with that made Carl say "nope" and set off his whole rant in the first place.

About 26 sacks and 2 DUI. He's no Neil Smith or DT so he should be at discount price but then again the free agency price tag is inflated again this year.

If he does get paid I think his contract should have language written into it that protects the team should he get suspended.

Jared Allen in production and ability is an elite DE.
The stats don't lie, that's the bottom line. On top of that I've seen him takeover a game or two since he's been with us.

The DUI really clouds things... the tendency is to say "Hey, you ****ed up and cost yourself money."

The problem there is that frankly his market value probably wouldn't be affected that much. We all know if he were a UFA he would be getting a mega contract from somebody, DUIs or no DUIs.
