Spinoff II: Who deserves the HOF more... T. Green or D. Bledsoe?

Again... We all know that neither will likely get there. Saying so doesn't make you look any smarter than telling us all that water is wet.

The question is, who deserves it more....

I think the Drew Bledsoe story kind of highlights just how far Trent Green really is from being a HOF quarterback...

I don't think anyone here is under the impression that he'd get in barring a couple of Super Bowl wins.

Heh, I keep forgetting he actually took NE to a SB (and lost) years before they won it.

bledsoe lead one team, and helped another to the SB. Trent has not won a playoff game. That beeing said, I can't think of a situation where I would choose Drew over Trent.

Green threw one pass attempt in his first six years in the league, missed an additional entire year to injury, and served as back-up to Warner another year. That's 7.5 years lost.

Too bad. He'll just have to win a Superbowl for KC and settle for the Chiefs HOF.

That typically doesn't happen with HOF players...

Bledsoe has 8 seasons over 3,500 yards ... career totals for yards and TDs are nice. He was pretty good for a sustained period of time as well in NE.

Currently, his all time rankings are pretty good:
Among the league's all-time top 50

Pass attempts:5th
Completions:5th
Passing yards:7th
Passing TDs:13th tied

If he could win a ring in Dallas and play for another 2 years... he might have a strong case.
Bledsoe's stats are less impressive when you take the other numbers into consideration. He has a ridiculous number of attempts (over 600 a few years?), his completion percentage is below 60%, his Y/A average is low.

He's a product of longevity and some pass heavy offenses.

I'd say either him or Green would need 2 Superbowls to get in.

Having watched Bledsoe for the first 8 years or whatever of his career, all I can say here is that he is eminently NOT QUALIFIED for the Hall of Fame.

I've never seen a better example of "stats lie" than Bledsoe. He was a very good quarterback for a few years. That's it. Not great. Not awesome. Not HOF-worthy.

I don't think anyone here really sees him as HOF worthy... all the stats really say is that he's been around a long time and has been in situations where he has had to pass a lot.

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

I agree he led one team to the SB.

"helped another" -- lost him in the 2nd game of the season (Pats were 0-2 in those games.

Came back just before halftime against the Steelers in the AFC Championship Game. Threw a key TD in the back right corner of the endzone. Then sucked as usual throughout the half, including one of the most absolute ridiculous "passes" I have ever seen -- chucked it over his head, backwards (with his back to the LOS), toward the middle of the field, while in the middle of getting taken down for a sack.

It was THAT play that told me that Bledsoe was gone forever, and Brady was our man. I had forgotten all the ridiculous STUPID crap this 8 year or whatever veteran did, ALL THE TIME, like that. Brady never pulled that stupid stuff, and it wasn't until I saw Bledsoe at his "best" that I realized why we won with Brady but not with Bledsoe. Million dollar arm, ten cent head.

So yeah, he "helped", I guess, but I give him a 0.000000001% share of that Pats SB win credit.

I can't wait until we get to the "Ed McCaffrey versus a Gatorade Cooler" vote. I bet the Gatorade cooler would pick Jim Burt or Harry Carson to do the induction speech.
