I think tonight about seals it. Their first chance to actually pass a team turns into disaster.

Ned Yost has made some head scratchers in some games, but there were a lot of extra outs given to the Indians tonight that had nothing to do with Ned.
Gordon misses a catch that he is supposed to make. Hosmer drops a double play grounder and only gets one out. Bonifacio misses two opportunities to get routine outs. The bats going dead after 3 innings. The bad defense. And, Herrera HBP of the Indians catcher Gomes. Those were the key factors in the loss. The team seemed to lose it edge tonight for whatever reason, not sure if Yost is to blame when the players stop hitting and fail to make routine defensive plays.

This makes the ' pinch hit Carlos Pena' and 'too much Guthrie' games even more painful. There are always going to be games like lats night's when bats go cold and bullpens implode...it just happens. So, when games that are well within our control are lost on bad decisions....that's salt on a wound.
Beautiful start to the game, crushing ending.

Fun Fact: Kelvin Herrera has given up at least a run in every appearance vs. the Indians this year.
But, MATCH-UPS! |

That shit right there is infuriating. Yost always points out stats/percentages to justify his pitching decision, yet the most glowing one is completely ignored. I don't care what level of knowledge you have about baseball, if you've watched Herrera this year (or any year) you know that far more times than not the guy has struggled with his control and puts runners on far too often. You just simply cannot put him out there in such a crucial game. Or if you are a shit-for-brains Ned Yost and do put him out there, you need to have the shortest leash on him and yank him the minute he misses his off-speed by three feet and plunks Gnomes.

We can't lose games to teams we need to catch at this point in the season, period.

Yost is a fool that needs to be fired, period. I can think of at least 10 games he's lost by himself this year.

I agree, last nights game made me want to puke. I was setting there wondering what the hell is going on and why he didn't bring in Papa Hoch instead. Hate to say it, but I think they are done now, but I sure do like Ventura.
