Strange scary things follow up

Original thread

Dispatcher: "Sheriff's office"
Caller: "Engine Number 2852 just about to jump the track"
Dispatcher: "I'm Sorry?"

It is important to note that it was not understandable the first time around. Dispatch had to speed it up to make it sound "normal" imagine playing a record on a speed too low...thats about how it sounds...well I tell you it is the most creepy thing I have ever heard ...if it were a 911 call it might have been easy to brush it off as some kind of computer making an emergency call for a train (if such technology exsists) but it was a call to the non-emergent line

Engine and Tender #2852 The engine was built in Sacramento but as steam train industry faded the engine was retired. The Glenn County Fair Board accepted engine #2852 and volunteers moved it to the fairgrounds in 1958.

Sounds like someone was having fun. Record it, play it at a slower speed over the phone, see some cops start freaking out.

Okay for one this call came into the Sheriffs Office dispatch center, you don't "play jokes" there unless you want in some hot water. Secondly the caller ID for the 911 system showed that the call originated from "line error" meaning the call could not be traced back anywhere. Dispatch contacted BNSF PD and told them what happened and they were miffed too. they said there is only one train #2852 and it was currently in Dallas Texas
