Call of Duty will go head-to-head with Battlefield 3 in 2011.

The third game in the series, which will be shown to press during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco next month, is set for release this coming fall, Electronic Arts confirmed.

The publisher revealed the first teaser trailer for the game on its official website tonight. The trailer, which contains no actual gameplay, displays quick cuts of helicopters, ground troops, tanks and fighter jets.

Additional details courtesy of the official Battlefield Blog confirm a full single-player and co-op campaign, jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer for the PC version. The Frostbite 2 engine will power the game and a Limited Edition will be revealed around GDC.

Developer DICE confirmed earlier this morning it was canceling the release of Battlefield 1943 and the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Onslaught pack for PC.

I've been playing for the last 45 minutes.

I don't like the influx of noobs. I can't tell you how many level 1 and 2's are going 1-15 or 2-13 right now.

What a little tease this first map/infantry style game is... lol

I don't get the complaints about camping. Took me about 3 plays of the map to figure it out then "bam".

I play BF like I play COD...very agressive. Can't wait for more maps, gameplay, weapons, perks, the vehicles....oh my

Played it. It's pretty addicting. Though sucks when there are level 10-15s playing a bunch of level 1-5s. But it's awesome and once glitches are gone will even better. King just keep spamming A button. That's exactly how I got in.

Battlelog is complete garbage. Tried to get a squad to join for about 45 minutes before we could get in. So many times it splits one of us up on the other team. Dice has a lot of work to do before launch.

There's no way they're "fixing" things this month.

I bet this beta we're playing is about 6-7 months old. Probably just good enough to make it "releasable".

That's why it's called a Beta.

Really looking forward to the co-op campaign. I like the online play of COD better (especially MW2), so I will probably get BF3 for single player and co-op campaign, and MW3 for multiplayer.

really not impressed with this game. Nothing pisses me off more than when I shoot someone in the head with a sniper weapon and they keep running like nothing happened.
