Is Aaron Rodgers GROSSLY overrated?

http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/...ck-experiment/

I watched the entire GB/Det game and I must say...Rodgers has not gotten better at getting rid of the ball. He's got a lot of Alex Smith in him in that regard. He takes a TON of unnecessary sacks. It's bothersome. He also missed a wide open Jordy Nelson when trying to come back on 4th and 5 with a terrible pass 3 yards behind him in a clean pocket...

He's had 1 good playoff run. So has Joe Flacco.

Why does everyone think he's the best QB in the NFL?

I think he's top 5, certainly. But I also don't understand how Tony Romo is a choker, but Aaron Rodgers is not?

I have been grossly unimpressed with Rodgers this year...and in all honesty, the last few postseasons...super meh.

I've said this for a few years now, but...I'd take Russell Wilson over Aaron Rodgers and at this point, I don't even think it's close.

Also, Rodgers is nowhere near Peyton Manning (obvi) or IN HIS PRIME Tom Brady, let's be honest.

I never once said he sucked, just had a pretty spotty record in close games. He best represent the NFC in the Super Bowl this year, or, at least, win a playoff game

I think the Pack will get the #1 seed and the Seahawks will get the #2.

My NFC Playoff scenario would probably be

#1 GB
#2 SEA

#3 PHI vs. #6 DAL or DET
#4 NO vs. #5 Arizona

I'm guessing the NFC rep will be either Green Bay or Seattle this season.

I'm on the same page as you. A few years ago... 5-24 in close games. That's really bad.

I think this year he is 3-0. He's turned a corner. And that is downright scary.

32 TDs vs 3 interceptions along with a 118.6 QB rating is not overrated - it's MVP caliber.

The OP is a more than fair comment.

Nobody doubts that the guy has unreal skills.

Dude was a terrible closer until this year. This year, he's been awesome as a closer. At the time of the OP, it was a more than fair question. His 5-24 record in close games a few years ago is pretty bad.

read the OP

I never doubted his talent, I just doubt his results.

If he wins a few playoff games this year and plays well, he'll have sold me.

If he loses again and takes 5 unnecessary sacks, he will continue to be that 'wow' QB who doesn't get rid of the ball because he tries to make constant hero plays.

they made a point about him during the NE game that this year he's decided to take what the defense has given him (IE dump the ball to the RB instead of trying to make something out of nothing) and it appears as if it's made a big difference.

We'll see. He's certainly the most talented QB I've ever seen. If he learns to get rid of the ball and not take 40+ sacks a year ... he could end up being the GOAT.

his feet are great and his throwing mechanics are ridiculous ... they are effortless and amazingly smooth. He also has unbelievable touch and accuracy.

One big flaw has held him back in the past and I'm excited to see if he can get that out of his game completely

because if he does

well, wow

well let's see with Russell ; I might have been wrong there but I'm not willing to admit that, yet. This postseason will be very intriguing for me on the NFC side.

And if you want to bash anything I've said you could just start talking about Kaepernick. He looks lost and I thought he was going to be a superstar.

I do think, however, Harbaugh is throwing that season on purpose. He's a read option QB and the team no longer runs the read option. Like, ever. It makes zero sense. So, I'm still wait and see for the next coach with Kaep although he may be ruined at this point.

Harbaugh is tanking on purpose? LOL

He's not ruined, defenses have just figured him out and because he's played at a high level. He's regressed. Period. Move on.

Wow, between this thread and your comments on Brady, you really aren't showing an impressive knowledge of quarterbacking...

Ah, I see, this entire thread was an effort to torpedo another spectacular quarterback so you could pump Peyton's tires.

Right, ok, I will move along now. Nothing to see here.
