The much-discussed potential trade of Branden Albert from the Chiefs to the Dolphins doesn’t appear likely at the price Albert is currently seeking.

Although the Chiefs and Dolphins can probably agree on compensation — the Dolphins sending a second-round pick to Kansas City — the hangup is that Albert wants the kind of money that the Dolphins aren’t willing to spend. Specifically, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Albert wants between $8 million and $9 million a year on a long-term deal.

In other words, Albert is looking for the same kind of contract that left tackle Jake Long got from the Rams — the very contract the Dolphins wouldn’t give Long, which is why he left Miami for St. Louis.

If the Dolphins weren’t willing to pay Long that kind of money, it’s hard to see why they’d be willing to give up a second-round draft pick for the privilege of paying Albert that kind of money. So the Dolphins may need to look elsewhere for a left tackle. And Albert may have to settle for playing this season for the Chiefs, making $9.8 million, and hitting free agency next year.

When you face guys who throw for 350 yards, you might.

Now guess how many 300-yard games Joe Flacco had last year: hint, more than Alex Smith's ENTIRE CAREER.

We are at a huge disadvantage if Alex Smith doesn't make a huge leap forward.

JFC, Goat!! IF Jamaal Charles continues to play like he's capable of, there won't be a need to throw for 350 yards a week. The running game slows the game down, keeps OUR defense fresh (for a change), and negates a reason for our QB to have to average 15 yards a pass. We already have a GREAT running game, all we have to have at QB is an accurate passer who doesn't make dumb@$$ mistakes like Casshole.

Rappaport just said Reid was right. The Chiefs have not given permission to the Dolphins yet.

Because the reason the Ravens won the SB is because Flacco threw for 331 yards in a playoff game.

Funny how Russell Wilson averaged 200 yard passing per game in 2012, but he's considered to be "elite" in this forum, yet if Alex Smith were to do the same, he's a "Broke Dick".

Flacco had games of 232, 187, 147, 153, 164, 182 and 188 in 2012, so I guess he sucks, too.

You're right. Offensive line, wide receivers and tight ends were also at fault.

Alex Smith was drafted #1 overall for a reason and that reason is that the 49ers completely sucked ass and lacked talent up and down the squad. They also had ownership and GM issues to go along with the fact that Mike Nolan should never have been hired as their head coach.

And Mike Singletary was even worse.

As devil's advocate, subjecting a young QB with questionable line play to Martz's philosophies is not good.

Simply not a good plan at all.

Reid clarified himself on Albert, saying Chiefs have given the Miami Dolphins permission to negotiate a contract with Albert's agent.
