Ive been in a Popeyes kinda mood lately. Spicy!

I find any grilled chicken at any fast food place to be bland and dry...with a rubbery texture. But I have found Chick-fil-A's deep fried to be moist and delicious.

Not saying it wasnt good, it was definitely hot and fresh to go along with the other positive things mentioned both times... but not any better than a Wendys spicy chicken combo when the guys back there decide to give a damn

I absolutely nub Popeye's red beans and rice. Even though they should call it red bean paste and rice, the spices & seasonin's is unbelievably good for a fast food joint. I wish I could find a knock-off Popeye's RB&R recipe.

I currently use a RB&R recipe I got from Jim Nasium that is the goodest I ever had.

Dane. Get some Popeye's RB&R if nothing else. The chicken is great for fast food, but it ain't gourmet. If you don't like it that much, bag the rest of it up, ship it to me and I'll throw it in my yard so it won't stink up yours.

I've had Raisin Canes a couple times and both times it was underwhelming. I miss living in Olathe and sometimes grabbing some gizzards from Go Chicken Go.

Here all we have is nasty KFC, nasty Chick-Fil-A, and halfway decent Popeyes.

I have a mildly unrelated story that involves both chicken and Wendy's on a tertiary level.

My wife was out of town a while back and I walked to Boston Market to get some chicken. My plan was to loiter there for a while on my computer because they have get-it-yourself soda refills.

I walked in, and their air conditioning either wasn't working or it was turned way up. It's not the most impressively run restaurant I've ever seen, so I figured they were saving money by making the dining room oppressive, so I turned around and walked back out.

I wasn't sure about other restaurants, primarily because they didn't have get-it-yourself soda refills. In looking around, I decided that I might as well go to Wendy's, because ... wait for it ... they had get-it-yourself soda refills.

I went in there, and they had really fixed the place up. It wasn't a Wendy's any more, at least not in spirit. It was actually a comfortable dining room where a person could loiter with their computer. And further, they'd replaced the soda machine with one of those thousand-soda machines. I'm going to go there more often.

This is why I go to Denny's when our power is out (twice this year), Internet, etc.

They've been remodeled all over Hollywood, with walnut flooring, electricity in each booth (charge the iPhone), free Wifi and very comfy booths with employees that don't bug.

Plus, Moons Over MyHammy is and will always be, awesome.

How much Dr Pepper do you usually drink during one of these loitering sessions?

For us it's Lee's or garbage.

How much better is Popeyes than Lee's?...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I got trapped in a snowstorm a couple of years ago and the Denny's was one of three places I could walk to. I was shocked at how nice it was.

Enough to get an honorary medical degree. I try to stop at three, though.
