Cody, I used to think it was paranoid too, but after laughing at an injury about 10 years ago, karma taught me a lesson by granting me an ACL tear and year-long rehab.
Laugh all you want, but I tell you, don't **** with karma. |

At this point, how could our fucking luck get any worse? Two decades of futility after the Superbowl win. Then Montana comes on, and even he can't save us. Then Lin Elliot's three missed FG's? Then the loss to Denver that was straight out of a bad Twilight Zone episode? Then Stoyshankovich tanking the FG against the Raiders? Then DT's sensless death? Then Gunther? Karma's been eating us alive for decades - I'm kind of wondering what the hell we did to deserve it.
Hopefully, though, it followed Smelvis to Baltimore and will leave us alone now. Seems like we've had enough. |

I think the Ravens D will not be nearly as good this year. You give someone a year to figure something out and they're probably going to figure it out. Not to say the D wil suck or anything like that, but they won't be nearly as good as they were last year.
Frazod, with our luck, either Marty and the 3 stooges or Ricardo Gannon and Alice Davis will win the Superbowl this year... Last edited by DaWolf; 08-08-2001 at 11:22 PM.. |

I agree that Grbac's season just got harder with J.Lewis's injury. Chris Barnes and Jason Brookins are the #2 and #3 RB for Baltimore, not very good RB options being a running team. I sense E.Rhett will be back in Baltimore very very soon, atleast for depth. Another possibility is the Ravens trading away for someone like M.Green of Tenn. but really I wouldn't expect a trade with Tenn considering they are in the same div. Only thing I can say is, Baltimore thought P.Holmes was expendable, I bet they wish they had him now.

That's an interesting way of looking at it Tim. I can't say I disagree.

I used to be superstitious too, but not anymore. Whatever happens, happens; but for a reason.
I do believe in "what goes around, comes around", which is the same as the 'golden rule', 'what you give, you get back', etc.

Baltimore actually realized about a month ago that Priest Holmes wasn't expendable and then started scouring the waiver-wire for veteran backs. Jamal Lewis sucks as a pass-catching back (this goes back to college as well) and in 2000 had an average of 1 touch per game (17 total for the year) on 3rd or 4th down. Priest Holmes was their pass-catching back, and I guess someone looked at the statbooks in June or July and noticed it and then looked at the roster and saw they didn't have anyone to replace him...

No kidding, Kyle. We need a priest, a minister, a rabbi and even a voodoo witch doctor. Perhaps we could find some Indians who aren't all p!ssed off over the team name to do a sun dance or something. Get 'em out at mid-field on opening day right before kickoff.

Cody, I believe destiny is complete B.S. Nothing happens for a reason, everything is cause-and-effect, and there's no great universal "plan" that's unfolding. We're not all powerless to control what happens in our own lives. We are what we want ourselves to be and that reflects directly what we're willing to do to become what we want to be.
Strange that you would say you believe in "what goes around comes around" but say I'm wrong when I say don't laugh at Baltimore. Because I'm basically saying "what goes around comes around". |

My point was that the so-called best front office in the NFL did not plan very well on something like this happening.

No, I guess they didn't plan very well. I'm all broke up over it, too.

That's the truth Cooter. I think Holmes leaving wasn't what Baltimore wanted however - he wanted a chance to be a starter somewhere, which is why he was willing to wait for the Green trade to go through instead of signing with Cleveland (I think it was the Browns).
Still, it's hard to believe that Baltimore wouldn't have had more than rookies on the roster to back up Lewis, a guy with a well-known injury history... |
