I figure there are some motorcycle guys/gals on CP, so I thought we could have a place to talk all things Motorcycles.

Tire Mount and Balance Prices (as of 10/29/16)

Prices based on if you remove the wheels yourself and bring the wheels and new tires with you:

Cycle Gear - $35 per wheel if you buy tires from them. $58 per wheel if you buy tires elsewhere
Rawhide - $65 per wheel (assuming it would be the same at other HD dealers. they book it at 1/2 hr per wheel)
C R Cycle Tires (DeSoto) - $30 per wheel

Cheapest I've found my Michelin Commander II's. Seem like they have good prices on other brands too.

Actually....come to think of it, when I was at Worth looking at the 72s, almost all of them had a tender hook-up hanging out from the seat.

Anyone ever use any type of fuel enrichment on their scoots? They’re apparently good for stock configs, high flow a/c, and Stage 1. It’s an alternative to a fuel commander. Indirect richening of open loop fuel mixes. From what I gather, it doesn’t let your F/A mixture drop below a certain ratio making the bike run cooler and give better throttle response etc.

I believe they’re also just plug and play so you don’t have to do any wire manipulation or do any sort of ECM flash or reset. So if you ever had to take it to the dealer and didn’t want them to know about any adjustments, you can simply unplug it and the ECM is still the same.

Seem like a good alternative to a power commander as they’re only $99-ish; and don’t plan on doing any engine upgrades and dyno runs.

and I just add Sta-bil; fired right up after winter.

I found a pretty good snapshot of exactly what they do:

The XiED family of products do not mangle or change anything indiscriminately. Nor do they override or overwrite any functions of the ECM.

What they do is alter the signal from the O2 sensor, BEFORE it gets to the ECM.

The XiED altered signal arrives at the ECM telling the ECM that the bike is "leaner" than it really is (by 6-8%).

From that point forward the ECM functions exactly as it was designed to function, taking all factors into consideration (not just the altered O2 input).

The ECM monitors all the following just the same with or without the XiED product installed. It makes adjustments based on all of these.

RPM
Manifold Pressure (to account for humidity and elevation)
Intake air temperature
Engine Temperature
Throttle position
Vehicle Speed
Ion Sensing (to reerun timing if detonation occurs)
and more.
None of these functions are affected by the XiED.

With an XiED the ECM is told the bike is running 6-8% leaner in closed loop than it actually is. The ECM then makes a precise adjustment based on that altered input, causing the bike to run precisely richer by 6-8%, while still factoring in all normal ECM variables.

Regarding your discovery...yes, we sell them, it is right in the banner at the bottom of all my posts.

Every time I post about XiED's and tuners, and whenever I speak with someone, I always mention that a full tuner will give a better tune than an XiED product.

On a stock-Stage 1 bike you can get about 90% of everything available with an XiED product, but if you want or need that last 10%, then a full tuner is the way to go.

Different people have different priorities.

I have two bikes currently. One (a sporty) has a Stage 1 and has the X14iED on it, and I am completely happy with it. Could I get a little more out of it by spending another $200-$300? Yep, but I do not feel the need.

On my Twin Cam, with a Stage 1, that is used for heavy 2-up touring, I want to get every last bit I can out of it, so I use a PCV with my own map. On this bike, for what I use it for, it is worth it for me to have spent an extra few hundred dollars AND to have spent about 20 hours getting the map just right.

Also, I will do like I did last year in that I will ride all 12 months. Obviously, today is not a day I rode because of the rain. But if the high temp is at least mid 40s and the low is no less than mid to upper 20s in the morning then I will ride. I just don't ride in rain/snow/sleet.

I think I've found my pipes I'm going to get. I'm after the old school look. I'd like to get them in just plain steal, and wrap them in titanium heat wrap.
add some gold looking pegs and grips.

I've decided to sell my motorcycle. With the arrival of boy #2, I just don't have time to ride.

I don't really expect any serious offers until the spring, but would like to get some feedback on my price point. It's a 2005 Victory 8ball, 5000 mi, lowered, ceramic pipes, K&N intake, rear seat and pegs and a couple other odds and ends. I'm thinking $7600 as a starting point based on Kelly Blue book. Does that seem reasonable, or am I out of the ball park?

I do too. I see a lot of pics with springer seats, but my brain won't let me get a springer seat AND have shocks. I'm not sure. I guess it's because I know that back in the day, the springs were the shocks etc. So, if I decide to go with a springer seat, I'm putting struts on the back.

winter add - ons/goodies:
-2.5 - 3" tank lift (haven't decided yet)

- pipes. so far the Fuelies (as in the pic) are in the number 1 spot as far as choice goes. But, they're considerably more than slip-ons. Though, I figure just bite the bullet and get the ones I want. I'm getting either a enrichment fuel by-pass, or a power commander; not sure. Secondary pipes to consider would be the Python Mamba slip-ons or the VH Big Radius.
- Air Cleaner.

mid-summer goodies:
-Nash Gimp bars; 12" apes. Internal wires; intneral throttle
-braided fuel and clutch line cable kit
-ditch the electric controls on the bars and install a momentary ignition
-ditch the mirrors and just have one on the left side.

seems reasonable to me given probably at least $1k of goodies.
Though, if you have the stock pipes and AC (and power commander?), and don't mind putting them back on, that would be the route I would go. You could at least recover some of the cost. Sell them on ebay or craigsist. I've done that with two of my bikes after getting offers less than my asking price even with all the add-ons. Made it stock, priced it at market value and sold the other stuff. Recovered probably 75% of the cost. I listed the goodies for sale at the same time as the bike and both bike and goodies were sold around the same time / rather quickly. In fact, you could probably list the goodies this winter since this is the time when a lot of dudes are looking to add to their scoot during the off-months. Then list the bike in Spring if you can hold off.
