HL was revolutionary in 1998. In 2012, it's just going to be another shooter on a dated engine.

I'm not a hater either. HL is #1 on my GGOAT list.

Source is a dated engine? I'll be the first to admit I am not fully up to date on recent game engines but how is Source dated?

I have not seen either of those so I defer to your judgement. But I think this game is based on the 2007 version of Source.

So I was finally able to download and install Black Mesa and have started playing.

First impressions; love it so far. To be fair I am a Half Life / Valve fanboy at heart. But the graphics are good, the atmosphere is a vast improvement from the original.

Only gotten half way through Blast Pit but so far this has not been a disappointment.
