The MIA Heat Show Thread

LA will be dethroned. The LAC Lake Show will be dead. So it's time to create a thread to follow the new dynasty.

Going on tour starting this October.

I understand the argument being put forth, but it's got huge problems. Green doesn't give them better offense, because of who he's subbing for. He does give them a player off the bench, if he's able to adapt.

They gave up defense, which was their forte. Kristic is still trying to learn how to spell the word. Perkins may well have been the best player in the league at handling Dwight Howard one-on-one.

Believe me when I tell you that a lot of people here in the northeast are really thinking that Ainge screwed the pooch on this one. From what's been reported, It's entirely possible that some of those people are in the Celtics locker room.

You don't win 61 games with one superstar and a bunch of scrubs. It doesn't matter if you're Jordan, Kobe, or Lebron.

The flaw in your argument is that you criticize the Cavs for building the team around scrubs that won 61 games, but somehow a Heat team built around superstars can't win 60 games. Lebron is on both teams. So how is it that the Cavs team with a bunch of shitty supporting cast members he was on was a lot more dominant than the Heat team that has 3 bona fide superstars?

And Lebron left for a lot of reasons. Most of it ego. Let's not pretend that a championship was the only reason. He's every bit as responsible for not winning as anybody, given that he was the leader of that team.

The Cavs were the best regular season team for many years by a long shot. That doesn't happen only because of one player. The supporting cast was a lot better than you give it credit for being.

I wasn't happy about the trade at first either but I am starting to see that it might be better. Green scored 21 the other night and Kristic had 17 2 nights ago.

They also had to do something because Marques Daniels got hurt and maybe done so they traded him. And let's be honest Perk wouldn't be the same this year anyway.

I'm not the only one.

66 wins. 61 wins. Doesn't happen with just one person. I don't care if it was Ditka himself.

Part of their winning is due to the East being so down but you make a valid point.

The reason why I don't give them much credit is because take Lebron away they are horrible which shows it is 98% him and they pick up the other 2%. It is the similar to if Peyton Manning got hurt the first snap of the season the Colts wouldn't win 4 games. But if Big Ben gets hurt the team doesn't suffer and they still can compete for a SB.

But let's be honest here.

Clippers
Suns
revamped Jazz
Warriors
Bucks

Right now, they are playing teams even the Heat could beat.

I want to add to my post to Zilla. It might have been a sign to come when Lebron sat for the last 4 games last season and they were 0-4 and gave up an average of 105.5 /pts a game.

He probably realized right then he was leaving

It's much different because basketball is a game played with only 5 players on the court so one player makes all the difference. I can't think of a single NBA team that has made it far without a single superstar on their roster. So again, I bring up the point: could you put an all star to replace Lebron and win 50-60 games? Yeah, I think the Cavs were well enough built to do that. Can the Cavs win without a single superstar? No, but neither can most teams.

I would argue that the Cavs were built a hell of a lot better to support Lebron than the Heat are. People call the Cavs a bunch of scrubs, but their team was built a LOT better to support a superstar than many teams were. They had a #1 ranked defense, a solid core of rebounders, and good spot-up shooters that Lebron could drive and dish to. Much better than they got credit for and I'm willing to bet that if the Cavs hit gold on their lottery pick next year (especially if they hit on two), they're going to be competitive next season.

It should also be noted that in those 4 games, they played Orlando, Atlanta, and Chicago (3 playoff teams). And in that 4 game stretch, they were beat badly in one and lost the others by 6 points, 3 points, and 1 point.

That's not an embarrassing 4-game stretch with or without a superstar.

I'm a bigger Kobe fan than anyone I know. I just recognize he has limitations as a basketball player and that LeBron is significantly better than him.

Dominance doesn't mean anything if that's all you've got, because part of dominance is winning.
The Cavs with LeBron were one of the best teams in the NBA in recent years. Was that not dominance? Or does it only count when you win a title?

Your definition of "bash" is flawed, much like the rest of your arguments. Jordan was a great player. The question is where he ranks in the pantheon. That was the case before he won any titles, too.
No, I'm just pointing out the incredible flaw in your argument. Jordan didn't win a championship for the first seven years of his career. If it was 1991, you would have had morons like you calling him a loser and downplaying his greatness because of it.
