Ticket Ripoff

So I'm visiting my dad for Thanksgiving. Got to play in some snow, eat some bird, etc. and all's cool. Then my dad tells me that he has a surprise for me - 4 tix to the Chiefs/Chargers game. Cool!

Then he shows me the tickets and the cost - $770!!! He got the tickets from Ticket Solutions for $175 each (section 119). I looked on kcchiefs.com for similar pricing and it matches what's printed on the ticket - $73 each. They scalped my dad for $102 per ticket and then charged him $50 for parking too!

I haven't even gone yet and I'm mad. These tickets cost more than our plane tickets to get here from Florida.

Anyway I can sue these ? Anyone else deal with these guys?

Perfectly legal in the state of Kansas. Could have had them at face value but you my as well enjoy the game now.

The laws here are screwd up. Licensed ticket brokers can rape you over on the Kansas side, but if you try to sell your ticket outside the ballpark, (even for face value) you can be arrested because of Missouri law. It's a real mess. Sorry you got taken advantage of. I'm in Section 119. I sold my Raider tickets and parking pass to one of the teachers who work with my wife at face value. We're on the road during Christmas so we can't go.

Timing is everything. A month ago those were hot tickets (right after the Atlanta and Indy wins). People give me a hard time about selling my tickets above face. They don't realize that as a season ticket holder you HAVE to pay full face for 2 preseason games that you can't give away, and that you have to pay for the tickets in full by the end of April. You have to sell a couple games above face just to break even. What I have been doing is a 2 game package at the beginning of the year where you get 1 premier (Broncos *

(* Violated the salary cap during their championship seasons), etc.) game and 1 preseason game, all at face. As long as I cover the preseason games and break even I'm happy. This year I did manage to break even, thank GOD I sold my Raiders tickets before the season started!

It suits me if you can get the money but I fail to see how you have built any equity in those seats. They are not yours. You are a renter. If you rent a house and decide to move how much equity are you re-imbursed for by the next renter?

I never said I had equity in the seats. I make it to 3 or 4 games a year and look to sell the rest and break even. In my case I have 4 tickets $59 each face value. With 2 preseason games that's $472 I start off in the hole on. I'm just saying that people need to get off the high horse when they have to pay more than face value for tickets. Season ticket holders pay for those seats in April, not knowing just how bad Carl has screwed up in the off season. So I don't think there is anything wrong with unloading the tickets you can't use for a little more than face. You have to be pretty out of the loop to buy tickets from a broker. You can always find tickets on Ebay or chiefstix.com at reasonable prices. The past two seasons the 2 game package deal has worked out well for me (packaging 1 preseason with one premier game all at face value). I would love to find someone who wanted to split the games every year. People always talk the big game about tickets until it's time to put up the money.

I don't understand why you're mad at Ticket Solutions.
