I've never played them. When Rome 2 comes out, post a review and if it's good I might try it. I played a little bit of Total Annihilation, but most of my RTS experience has been StarCraft, Warcraft 3, and StarCraft 2.

The Total War games are much more than RTS. Imagine a turn-based nation-building game like Civilization that actually let's you play the battles out with thousands of well-animated units. It's a game with a ton of strategy but also tactics. They are all set in very accurately portrayed historic periods too.

You really owe it to yourself to go buy one of them on the cheap and play the crap out of it.

Pick and era that most interests you and go immerse yourself.

That's a really good question. I'm trying to think of all the games I've put 100+ hours into over the years.

Civilization
Civ II
Civ IV
Colonization
Master of Magic
Sim City 2000
Pirates!
Rollercoaster Tycoon
The Sims [all of them]
Tropico
Every GTA since GTA 1
Fallout 3
Fallout New Vegas
Oblivion
Skyrim
Red Dead Redemption
LA Noire

...and the games that I feel the need to beat over and over again for some reason:

River City Ransom
Batman Arkham Asylum
Resident Evil 4
Rainbow Six Vegas
KOTOR

Sid Meier and sandbox games. I am a sucker for them.

WoW, not even close, 3 85s, 3 80s, the other toons above 70... just sucked my whole life up. I play it when new expansions come out, but then I quit again because I get bored. I used to raid all the time, 5-6 nights a week, but now I have a girlfriend so my time is utilized in other ways

Before that it was Counterstrike/Half Life/Unreal Tournament etc, big into FPS before Call of Duty became the end all be all it has become.

Outside of that I absolutely loved Final Fantasy games. I logged so many hours on FFX because of its story and ability to cross train your characters in almost every single sphere layout. Can't wait for the remastered FFX, whenever the hell that comes out.

There should be a separate thread for MMOs. People just don't understand what an amazing gaming experience those are. But that's probably like telling people who have never shot up heroin about how great it feels. LOL.

Anyway, for me it's WoW and it's not even close. After that, it's probably Counter-Strike (1.3 to 1.6, **** that CSS nonsense).

1.5-1.6 for me.

I remember being a teenager and making a pretty legit clan.

Those were the days.

It was especially fun back in 1999/2000 era when raiding was really discovered in Everquest. Getting 100+ random people on the server to try and break Plane of Fear and Plane of Hate to get corpses until 5am was strangely the best time I'd not want to go through again, hah.

I missed out on all that. My first MMO was WoW, so I guess people already kind of knew how to raid but it was still so fresh back then.

That pretty much describes EQ as a whole. It's hard to describe to somebody who didn't play it, but I've never loved playing another game that I hated so much.

LOL. I always thought Fear was by far the worst. We handled Hate pretty well and owned the Maestro and Innoruk over and over.

Fear we always seemed to get wiped out at least once and the corpse recovery after entering took to long. I played a Necro and Cleric so my Necro was always on summon duty while my cleric was rezzing. I loved two boxing it made it more of a challenge.

Oddly enough, Mass Effect 3. Played through the SP three times and have logged a metric ****ton of hours in multiplayer.

NCAA 2k12 is up there as well, as it was my go-to FB game for 2+ years.

I played through Skyrim and Fallout 3, but by the end just wanted to get them over with.

Call of Duty 4 probably. Path of Exile is probably going to squash all other games. I've been playing the shit out of it and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon.
