There was a thread he started about 1-2 weeks ago saying he was in the hospital and had been since Jan. or something.

I am Jim's son. My Dad is doing ok. His health has improved a lot, he had a very serious infection, and it took quite a toll on him. Right now, he can't walk on his own, but he is doing physical therapy, and everything points to him being back on his feet in a couple months.
