Ah, not a good idea. The posting of IP addresses is what drove the people off of the SunSpot BB in Baltimore to form their own board much like this one. Most Computer Security people advise against that, especially for those posters of ours who have fixed IP addresses (DSL, Cable). While people like me have a dynamic IP, I still get anywhere from 1-62 hits on my firewall a night (Zone Alarm lets me know everytime I'm being port scanned). If my IP was easily available, I'd probably get hammered a lot worse than that. The moderators can access the IP addresses and can tell if someone is spoofing. They're the only ones who can do anything about trolls anyway. Just my opinion and the experience of having been through that once before. ------------------ Misplaced Chiefs Fan Red and Gold on the Warpath http://www.nightwolfgraphics.com |

I post on a very popular St. Louis Cardinals baseball forum as well as a Mizzou Tiger forum that employs the IP method. I've never heard of any problems.
Quite frankly, I didn't understand much of what you were talking about. Some of that high tech computer lingo went over my head. John in St. Louis metro JMolina@apci.net |
