I just figured it all out, Gun is setting up the passing game by running the ball every down for the next 13 weeks so that the last game of the year we can fool the atlanta falcons for one play action play. That is about how ridiculous this play calling is on offenseand his stuburn additude could bring us a 3-13 season. I actually hope the Chiefs do win 2 or 3 games. Major changes would be forced to occur, and the Chiefs would FINALLY get a high first-round draft choice & a soft schedule.
Oh well. If Carl is still here he'd probably trade down and select a LB and an OG. ------------------ This is my signature!! There are many like it but this one is mine!! |

Is it possible that there is a FUNDAMENTAL [and I mean FUNDAMENTAL] case of crossed wires between Gun and Raye? Is it possible that Gun thinks he has given Raye free reign, while Raye thinks that he has a clear mandate to run?
I seem to remember Raye mumbling something about "talk to Gun" when questioned on the run, run, run philosophy last year. And statements like in the topic header seem pretty clear. OTOH, Gun has said things like I quoted below [We're in a transition. . . etc.] and when questioned regarding run, run, run after a loss, talks about how Raye "pulls in his horns" and how that tendency need to be addressed. I am fairly confident in stating that Gun operates from a basis of slight overconfidence in his personnel and Raye operates from a base of fear that the personnel cannot execute. Can it be that Gun thinks that Raye thinks/knows that he has autonomy in the play-calling, while Raye thinks that Gun wants him to call runs and will get mad if he doesn't? |

Clint: if you actually believe that, you're dumber than I thought. If we got a top 4-5 pick, Carl would definately address either the QB or RB position. My bet is the RB position.

Does anyone think that if we draft a stud HB or QB early in the draft that the guy has a chance in hell of being signed by the first 4 games?
We have holdouts with guys in the final third of the draft, I can't imagine the mess that would occur with a top 10 pick. |

Chiefnj: Dont know, I guess it would be pure speculation, but wouldnt it be great to at least have drafted one?
The big question after that is will the coaching staff know what to do with a stud HB or QB after he's signed. |

I don't think that our present coaching staff has the ability to develop a HB let alone a QB. We have yet to develop a QB in the past 12 years. Blackledge never developed. Hill never developed. It's quite sad.

Chiefnj,
Good obversation. Funny you should mention Greg Hill. IMHO, there's a common denominator between both he and Grbac - Jimmy Raye. Raye was the Chiefs RB coach when we drafted Hill. Raye has also seriously stalled the development of Grbac. I really can't understand how he even has a job in the NFL. |
