RAW is finally recognizing the need for young talent to start taking the reigns. CM Punk as WHC is lively and fresh, Kofi as IC champ is hopefully the start of renewed importance for that belt and the midcard. Hell, even DiBiase and Rhodes seem to be an interesting fit with each other.

As soon as edge came out, I was like "oh shit, oh shit, batista's going to nail him and punk's going to get the belt".

And then it fucking happened.

The first half hour of Raw was fucking AWESOME. JR was great, like you knew he would be, then Edge came out, and was awesome, like you knew he would be. fucking laser-hot heat. Then enter Batista. I wasn't sure what the crowd reaction to Punk would be, but they fucking ate that UP.

Awesome. I can't believe I just saw that.

THAT is unpredictable television. I haven't been that legitimately nervous during a match since at least the Orton-HHH last man standing at No Mercy.

Punk is being portrayed as a kind of "on the job training" champ right now, which is great as long as they keep having him eke things out and progressively stronger. I love the poetic justice for Edge, too.

And the writing on this Jericho angle is even stronger. He keeps being correct, but in a way that makes him more sanctimonious than sympathetic. Having Kofi pull his tights, only for him to retaliate and be DQed... just ****ing genius. Shades of gray, but effective shades of gray rather than Russo's hacky conceptualization of it.

Just... well done, WWE. You've completely revitalized Raw over the course of one week.

Also, having Cena and Cryme Tyme as allies further bolsters Punk's street cred.

I didn't realize it until they went to commercial, but the opening segment of Raw was an incredible 25 minutes long. And an incredible 25 minutes.

I'm watching Raw again (Wow, I never do that), and I would be remiss if I didn't mention how completely MANIC Edge was when he was yelling at JR. His eyes were trying to escape from his head. Amazing.

Cody's promo was actually pretty decent, too, though the complete lack of heat for that entire segment was pretty painful.

Oh, and Santino's Batman line. Jesus, I love that faux-hawked mediocre wrestler.

Jamie Noble is awesome, too. They should dedicate ten minutes of each Raw to Noble trying to get some and then getting his ass kicked.
