Salary Cap Calculator

I messed around with it a bit last night....but this thing is pretty cool. You can cut players, trade players, extend and restructure their contracts....and it will give you up to date cap numbers for 2014-2016. I don't know how accurate it is...but Over the Cap is usually pretty accurate with their numbers.

It also allows you to give new deals to any of KC's free agents.

giving a raise to DJ means we have less to pay other players that can improve our team

why would any Chiefs' fan WANT to give a player a raise before they have to?

I didn't say I want him to get one... Just realized what he made compared to others and think he deserves one.

Yeahh.................... No clue what the Chiefs do this offseason.

I restructure Berry and Hali, and then extend Houston and Smith, and then re-sign Schwartz and McCluster, and even bring back Jordan, Powe, and Gafford at league minimums.

I even cut Dunta Robinson, then resign him at league minimum, then cut him again for good measure.

I end up north of $10 million over the cap.

Sheesh.

Great link, Pesty, but it has only succeeded in killing my buzz.

I lock down Alex Smith for $15m/year for 4 years. Justin Houston $8/year for 6 years.

Schwartz $3m/year for three years. McCluster something like $4m/year for four years.

Just cap disaster. That's before the draft and ANY (read: any) free agents.

And that's with graphically unfair restructures to both Hali and Berry.

The fact that you double emphasized the (any) bit; there has never been a moment on CP where a post was more crystal-clear than this post is to me, right here & right now, Direckshun.

****ing terrific, pal! ...Great communications!

Stop extending Houston. Wait until next season.

It's a great tool...but you have to know about contracts and how to structure deals. It'd be better if they just gave you a couple of contract options to work with.

Yeah, because I have no idea how to hide money like some of these teams do. I guess roster bonuses are one way?

I'm extending Houston now. He had a damn good year. I want to extend him now before he has an incredible one and the only leverage we have is the franchise tag. I have more leverage on him now than I'll have in 2015.

Franchise Tag gives you an extra year on a player like Houston.

Houston isn't that good on paper stats wise, obviously his in game impact is far better, and that's what Chiefs fans love him for. But he's only had 10 and 11 sack seasons, that's not exactly going to break the bank.

So the tag gives you an extra year, and that extra year is probably when we can cut a lot of the guys that might fall off a cliff (Tamba, Flowers, maybe even Bowe *fingers crossed* etc)
