I'm pretty sure you don't have to be a cop to do what you suggested either.

Why be a cop when you can pay a cop?

I guess it all depends on your level of desire to get in law enforcement. I wouldn't turn down a firm offer from anywhere these days

Last night we get a call from a 19 year old that got a little ruffed up by some guy who didn't like the 19 year old driving fast in his neighborhood. Quiet street, don't blame the older guy for what was pissing him off, but of course had to say he didn't have the right to go into the street and stop a random stranger, reach into the window and grab the kid by the shirt while yelling at him to slow down.

Deal is, the kid called us and wanted to press charges. Second problem, when I first approach the older dude (who lived in this rich area of town) I smell he'd been drinking and he was being very loud, obnoxious and verbally combative with me. Called me every name in the book, and started walking away three times while I was trying to figure out what had all happened.

He was starting to get pretty aggressive and bowing his chest out at me, you know - remember high school, someone probably did this to you at one time or another. I know I had every right to cuff him for his, mine, the kid's safety, but I didn't.

Anyway, I'm glad I didn't, it ends up he's a senior exec at a BIG banking institution, even if I was right, I probably would have been up to my eyeballs in lawsuits for the rest of my life.

Now, someone up on the "north" side of town does that, well - they'd probably have a gun or drugs or warrants anyway, so it'd all be ok to get tough with that shithead, right? (last paragraph is a joke, in before it's taken serious)

I wonder if the rich guy could've taken care of a credit card from his institution for me? Maybe I should have just started harassing the kid and started auctioning off some options. "for 100 I'll pepper spray him, for 1000, I'll let you taze him!"

Ok, so I'm done rambling. Up for 24 hours.
