We have two things to look forward to this year:

1) The potential beginning of the Maty Mauk Era. Mauk represents the best chance for this program to get back to a level of respectability after horrendous QB play cost us multiple games last year.

2) The last year of the Gary Pinkel era. Pinkel's entrenched cronyism won't play in a conference this competitive, especially if he couples his abysmal gameday coaching with lackadaisical, worst-in-conference recruiting. Pinkel was the formerly adequate meal that has now turned into a four pound bowel obstruction. It's time to jam a Fleet's enema up our collective asses.

Here is the schedule. We dodge Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas in the west and the Non-con is decidedly weaker than years past.

Looks like 6-6. Undefeated in non-con, 2-6 in league play.

I will eventually update the OP with a list of high profile in-state recruits that decide to go elsewhere after a half-assed attempt to gain their services. The inevitable cavalcade of *** rejects, skeezers, skanks, and scalliwags we get will fill out the ranks.

Since every Mizzou thread eventually dies of AIDS, I recommend starting anti-retroviral therapy immediately. I believe Walgreens covers Express Scripts.

So...I'm going to keep on being not super impressed by a guy who completed half his passes and who forced the OC to remove all the crossing routes from the offense because he couldn't be trusted to throw over the middle of the field.

Anecdotal, but I was down at the Lake during the Georgia game. A waitress at Arris Pizza told me she saw Pinkel at Starbucks that Friday morning.

You can, though.

I tried to take his post as sarcasm, but I really wasn't sure. Mauk definitely has a lot of potential and will just get better with experience. But Franklin (especially if he's 100% and goes back to playing like he was earlier) is better by far right now.

The offense is better if Franklin is 100% healthy.

One start over 50% completion percentage. One. I don't know how you could look at Mauk's stat line or his play on the field and say that he's a better option than Franklin. It's nice that he threw a lot of TDs against a god awful Kentucky team, but those scores were almost all DGB just out-athleting the corner for jump balls.

Frank was putting up outstanding numbers prior to the injury. If he's healthy, you go with him.

^ This. I honestly think that had Franklin been healthy for the SC game, Mizzou destroys them. When SC started to come back in the second half, the offense led by Mauk was unable to do anything about it. Part of that might have been play calling, but I think a good amount of it was due to poor QB play.

And if it's not there, he doesn't really have a plan B.

The kid looks like he's going to be a hell of a lot of fun to watch if we can keep WRs around him for the next 3 years, but he's clearly very raw. He's ungodly aggressive; it's just in his personality. Even if he learns the offense, he's going to read it deep to short still.

That worked for the most part this season because Mizzou's WRs are just a silly combination of fast and huge. It might work again next season as well because DGB, Sasser and Hunt will still be around. Hopefully we'll have a nice group of guys coming up for him during his JR and SR seasons.

Plan B is to run like hell. I simply can't get over how fast Mauk is. I don't know why, but my favorite plays are when he breaks free into the secondary. Watching him run past DBs who should have had the angle on him gets me fired up because I know how demoralizing it is.
