No, Mayweather would not be throwing kicks and leaving himself open to a clean shoot, which would make it even more difficult for her to get a shoot on him.

Take down defense is all balance and Counter timing, at which Mayweather may be top 3 in the history of the world.

A few things I'd like to make sure we all agree on:

1) This will never happen. We all know it. This is just an argument for the value of entertainment.

2) Let's pretend Floyd is willing to go in 100% hot. He has no reluctance in hitting her with everything he's got and would punch with every bit of his power at every opportunity. Even for him I doubt that would be the case but for the sake of argument let's say it's true.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I think if she lingers for even a second it's a done deal. She absolutely must take it to the ground.

If she's smart she comes out with a front kick or takedown immediately and her odd's go up by about 90%...

This debate breaks down into 3 questions:

1. Can he handle her grappling? I have to think that's a unanimous no.

2. Can she handle his punch? Some division on this one. IMO even his jab would **** her up.

3. And what it ultimately comes down to... can he land a punch and/or avoid her before she gets ahold of him? People probably underestimate how shifty he is, but at the same time he's never had to avoid someone who's literally trying to take him down rather than tie him up. Hard to say.

I might give her a slight edge in an mma octagon, but very slight. I believe a single punch could end it.

It's easier to punch someone than to wrap them up and take them down. Floyd has avoided being punched by elite boxers, so what hope does Ronda have of wrapping him up?

This is hilarious. There is actually a school of thought on this board that says Rhinda Rousey could withstand getting punched by Floyd Mayweather.

By the way, heads up to casual fight fans who might tune into the PPV or get dragged into watching this weekend: casual fans and women who only like Ronda and don't usually ever see UFC fights have no idea what they are in for in the co-main event.

Joanna (strawweight champ) is probably the greatest female striker in the UFC, she has nasty face-cutting elbows, her opponent is mediocre, and that fight could end up being very bloody. It is going to be an enormous mismatch that could be difficult for some people to watch.

edit: spoilered so people don't come across this without voluntarily clicking.

Joanna's last opponent was a better matchup than who she's fighting this weekend, and this is what happened. It might not get quite this bad, but damn.

Spoiler!

Maybe she could eat one or two jabs which is why I think she could survive to the first clinch, but if he lands a clean power punch, then no, she's hurt immediately.

Rousey would beat Alex 30-27.

Alex only jabs.

So you are saying it should go to the Hall of Classics due to its uniqueness?
