Couldn't care less. Hope they don't get any punishment. Cheating on your western civ test at UNC means about dick in the real world. These guys will either play professionally or enter the job market unqualified.
It harms me not in the slightest. If the players wanted an education, they didn't have to cheat. You're an adult. Make your own damn decisions and live with them. |

NCAA is going to have to act in a major way.
They are shaky ground with a lot of schools questioning their value as a governing body, and if this gets a light slap you can bet the masses will cry a double standard for a few "privileged" programs based upon their status. It would be like chipping away at the crack and open the floodgates for institutions defecting to escape NCAA cronyism and unlevel playing field for those select chosen programs - the $$$ making marquee name schools. The NC2A guys are well aware that there is blood in the water, and they stand a very real chance at essentially being cut out of the equation in college athletics if they don't handle this properly and get the punishment right in sending a clear message as to their entire organization's relevance and necessity in today's college athletics.

Like they are the only college participating in this type of behavior?

exactly.
I'm an Alabama fan, and any time anything comes up as a violation in the news for Bama or any team in the SEC, everyone comes out of the woodwork to post "$EC" (clever, huh?). "usually", this is done by Big 12 fans, and for some reason it's OU fans in my circle of friends. Like.....really dude? OU is a big-time football school. So is Texas. etc. you think they don't have dirty laundry. gimme a break. I'd say virtually every top-tier football program in the country has shit going on they don't want to get out into the open.

I had a good friend in High School, here in KS, that applied to Florida State. I can't recall the exact circumstances, but he wasn't accepted. He was a good student; was involved in sports, the sudent business/marketing clubs, debate team etc.
every time I see one of these college athletes interview, I can't help but scratch my head about how they got in? I mean, I 'know' why they got in, but is there some sort of sports waiver or something that these colleges use to sign up these athletes - who are, for all intents and purposes, legally reeruned. lol serious question, i have no idea.

This is what happens when you have people like Goodell and Emmert making huge decisions with no thought about repercussions.
The ncaa is trapped. They gave close to the death penalty to Penn state for stupid reasons - I still maintain that what Penn state did was criminal more than it was cheating. Osu received bowl bans for a few tattoos and over the matter of a few hundred dollars. Usc, like osu, was a clear ncaa violation... But egregious? Hell no. What Oregon did was pure cheating. What unc did was pure cheating. Because of the way, the ncaa overreacted on the above, the death penalty is the only course of action that's fair. If they don't, then those 3 schools may want to ask why the ncaa is selectively enforcing punishments. In this case, it is an enormous deal because we are talking about three schools above who took major hits, I'm sure, to their football revenues as well as alumni donorship. |
