Dumb idea of the day: Let Alex Smith play out his contract
http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2014/4...t-his-contract
A year ago I suggested that Alex Smith should be extended because the price would never be lower. Obviously 99% of the forum was against me, but the deal I suggested would be a bargain today. Now paid writers are literally suggesting to let Alex play it out when there is no chance that the Chiefs could match free agent offers for him. Their defense is that he could get hurt. Wow, and if he gets hurt, who plays QB? Chiefs are screwed either way Best case scenario if we don't extend Alex soon is the franchise tag and that means massively overpaying for another key position |

Justin Houston is gonna be a tough signing. He was the last guy from the whole 2011 draft to sign his rookie deal because he wanted to try and squeeze as much out of it as possible. I EXPECT him to demand the largest contract ever for an OLB and to stick to his guns. No chance he signs for any hometown discount, so you might as well forget about that. I haven't said a word about cutting Flowers or Hali. You have me confused with someone else. I don't think getting Alex Smith signed long term is gonna be an easy task, either. The guy had a very strong second half of the year and postseason performance and looks to have a big year in 2014. With the deals Tom Condon has gotten for his other clients, I EXPECT this place to implode when the details of the deal are announced. Worse than the implosion when it was announced that we traded 2 2s for him. |

I very highly doubt Alex Smith gets less than Jay Cutler.

Like I've said many times, if Alex Smith gets that kind of deal, you can kiss a Super Bowl goodbye.

It's just raw numbers. Peyton Manning is the only guy that's won a Super Bowl while accounting for such a large percentage of his team's cap. Even all-time greats like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning (except for that one year) can't will their team to a championship. They can get them there only to lose to a superior team with a younger, cheaper QB. |

People here just bitch to bitch. You don't trade for a QB and have the picks you don't have a QB. You trade for the QB you don't have the picks. You pay the QB you don't have cap space, you let him go you wasted the picks.
After the Colts game it was fairly obvious to everyone here we have a legit QB, which apparently was bad for us to aquire now that the draft is almost here... |
