well you are correct he did not line them up the way it was back in the day, but Berry played mostly cover 2 and made his tackles from that split safety position.
I did watch a few games that season and what was good about Berry was his jump on the play and his speed coming down to make some big hits and tackles. As we recall, Berry's question mark was whether he would stop the hitting and wrap up.

“From what I’ve seen they use him more like a linebacker, putting him in the box,” Virginia Tech quarterback Tyrod Taylor said. "He’s a big hitter. He’s strong in defending the running game. “We know he can run the field and he does cover the field well. But as far as the tapes I’ve seen, he’s down playing linebacker and he gets to the ball quick.” |

2) if you are suggesting this report states he plays in the box in a base defense, it's hilarious . 3) if you had quoted the entire article, you'd have revealed what I have pointed out to you.

The only reason I posted anything from Bleacherreport was because it had direct quotes froma player that he faced and who made quotes about how Berry was being used. I'll post some other links that show how you're wrong if you want. Eric Berry was used by Romeo Crennel similarly to how Kiffen used him. I watched damn near every Tennessee game of his career, you obviously didn't. |
